EDD maternity leave payment issued but not received - direct deposit issues?
Hey everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my maternity leave payment and wondering if anyone else is experiencing problems with this new payment system. EDD's automated line says my payment was issued Saturday (3 days ago), but I haven't received anything in my bank account or on the new EDD debit card. I double-checked my direct deposit info in the portal and everything looks correct. Already called my bank and they don't see anything pending on their end either. This is my first maternity leave payment and I'm getting worried since rent is due next week! Has the new payment system caused delays for anyone else? Any ideas on what I should do next?

•Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this too! Did you try calling EDD? I've been trying all morning but can't get through.

The new payment system is a NIGHTMARE!!! I had exactly this problem last month with my baby bonding payments. EDD said payment was issued but NOTHING showed up for 8 DAYS!!!! When I finally got through to someone they claimed it was a "glitch" in the transition to the new system. Apparently some payments get marked as issued in their system before they actually process the ACH transfer to banks. NO APOLOGY for the stress this caused my family!!!

I work with EDD claims regularly and can confirm there have been numerous issues with the new payment processing system, particularly with first-time direct deposit setups for maternity leave claimants. A few important things to check: 1. Verify that your claim shows "paid" status not just "payment issued" in your online account 2. Double-check that your direct deposit information matches exactly what's on file with your bank (even minor discrepancies can cause issues) 3. Remember that first payments often take 2-3 business days longer than subsequent ones 4. If you previously had the old BofA card, make sure you've completed the transition to the new payment system If you've confirmed all these things, unfortunately you'll need to speak with an EDD representative directly. The payment may be in a processing queue that only they can see or resolve.

•Thank you for this detailed information! My claim does show "paid" status, and I've triple-checked my banking info. I guess I need to somehow get through to an actual person at EDD.

Have you tried checking if they sent it to the new Money Network card instead of your direct deposit? Sometimes even when your direct deposit is set up correctly, they default to the card for the first payment. Happened to me in January and I nearly missed my car payment because I was waiting for the direct deposit that never came. You can check your Money Network card balance at moneynetwork.com if you've already activated your card.

•I haven't activated my Money Network card yet since I specifically set up direct deposit! But maybe you're right and they sent it there by default. I'll try activating it today and check. Thanks for the suggestion!

•Two weeks?! That's insane. I don't have family nearby to borrow from so I'm really hoping it doesn't take that long.

I had this exact issue last month with my maternity leave payment. Spent HOURS trying to reach someone at EDD with no luck - constant busy signals or disconnects. Finally tried using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an EDD rep in about 15 minutes. They found my payment was stuck in some verification queue because it was my first direct deposit. The rep manually pushed it through and I got paid the next day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5. Honestly worth it when you're dealing with a newborn and can't spend all day redialing EDD.

•Thank you! I've never heard of this service before but I'm going to check it out. At this point I just need to talk to someone at EDD and resolve this.

UPDATE: I finally got through to EDD this morning (used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above - it actually worked!). The rep confirmed my payment WAS sent to the Money Network card even though I had direct deposit set up. Apparently for first-time maternity leave payments they sometimes default to the card for security reasons?? Anyway, I activated my card and the money is there! For future payments they said direct deposit should work as expected. Just wanted to update in case anyone else has this problem.

Thanks for sharing this update! Yes, this is a common issue with first payments that many claimants encounter. For anyone reading this thread in the future: 1. Always activate your Money Network card even if you set up direct deposit 2. First payments often default to the card regardless of your settings 3. Subsequent payments should follow your chosen payment method 4. If your payment status shows "issued" but hasn't arrived in 3-5 business days, contact EDD directly Glad you were able to get it resolved!
