EDD delays: Waiting months for unemployment claim payout, new claim pending - Need advice for speeding up process

I've been waiting for months to get paid on my unemployment claim and now I have a new one pending too. The first claim is from last year and I still haven't seen a dime. I really need this money now because my family member is in hospice and I'm trying to plan for end-of-life stuff. Has anyone else dealt with crazy long delays like this? Any advice on how to speed things up? I'm getting desperate here.

Malik Davis

Here's what you need to do to get this resolved ASAP: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates, times, and outcomes. 2. Reach out to your local state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues. 3. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. Have your claim numbers, dates, and a clear explanation of your situation ready. 4. Emphasize the urgency due to your family situation. Sometimes they can expedite claims in cases of hardship. 5. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint with the state labor board. 6. Keep trying different contact methods - phone, email, social media. Sometimes you'll get lucky with one. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my rep. Didn't even think of that.

This is gold 💯 Wish I had known all this when I was dealing with my claim last year.

The state rep thing really works. My cousin got her issue resolved in like a week after months of nothing.

I used Claimyr and it was surprisingly effective. I know $20 is not cheap, but when you're desperate for a solution, it can be worth it. It's a shame that the system requires such measures, but until they're fixed, this is one way to get results.

I was skeptical too but finally decided to give it a try. It saved me so much time. Wish there were more affordable options though.

This is why we need UBI. The current system is clearly not working for people who need it most.

Ugh, here we go with the UBI talk again. That's not gonna solve everything ya know.

Idk man, at this point I'm willing to try anything new. The old way clearly ain't cutting it.

Hi OP, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. For a more balanced view, while Claimyr has provided solutions for many, be mindful that success may vary and there's no guarantee it works for everyone. It's crucial to document your interactions, keep reaching out through various channels, and consider contacting legal aid or advocacy groups for further assistance. Stay persistent and proactive.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep calling until you get through to a real person. It sucks, but it's the only way to get answers sometimes.

I've tried calling so many times, but I always get stuck on hold forever and then get disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Calling is a joke. I spent 3 hours on hold last week only to get hung up on. The whole system is a clown show 🤡

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes publicly shaming them gets results. Just don't share any personal info!

This actually worked for me! I tweeted at them every day for a week and finally got a DM from someone who could help.

Hmm, might have to dust off my Twitter account. Worth a shot I guess.

Just adding my two cents about Claimyr. It indeed works and while it's not ideal to pay for a service to access public resources, it's a temporary fix for a broken system. However, such services should ideally be a free part of government assistance.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate and tried it. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you filled out everything correctly? Sometimes a tiny mistake can hold up the whole process.

NebulaNova

Yeah, I've gone over it like a million times. Everything looks good on my end. It's just sitting in limbo somewhere in their system.

I feel ya, buddy. The system is so messed up rn. I've been waiting since October for my claim to go through. It's like they don't even care about us 😤

Most offices are still closed for in-person visits due to COVID. At least in my area.

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. It sucks that legit claims are getting caught in the crossfire.
