EDD PFL application stuck due to ID verification issue - need advice for calling
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble submitting my application for Paid Family Leave. The main issue is that I can't file my claim because of an ID verification problem. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I say when I finally get through to an EDD agent? I'm worried they might transfer me if I mention I haven't filed yet. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, the ID verification process is such a pain! I went through something similar last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Be upfront about the ID issue from the start 2. Explain that you want to file but can't because of the verification problem 3. Ask specifically what documents you need for verification 4. Get the agent's name and extension if possible 5. Follow up regularly if it's not resolved quickly Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence pays off.

•This is solid advice! I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke with. It came in handy for me when I had to escalate my case.

•Thanks for the detailed response! I'll definitely use these tips when I call. Did you have any specific documents that helped speed up the process?

•Glad to help! For me, having a clear scan of my driver's license and a recent utility bill with my current address really helped. Also, if you have any official government letters (like from the IRS or Social Security), those can be golden. Just make sure everything is current!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho. The time I saved not being on hold was worth way more than $20 to me.

•How long did it take for them to get you connected to an agent?

•It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still beats calling and redialing yourself all day!

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get basic help? The system is broken af 😤

Hey OP, have you tried using the online ID.me verification system? It can be a bit finicky, but it might save you a phone call if it works.

•I tried, but it kept giving me an error. That's why I'm trying to call now. Has anyone had success with ID.me after initial failures?

•Yep, had the same issue. Turns out my webcam was too low-res for their liking. Borrowed a better one from a friend and it worked like a charm.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is down like every other weekend for "scheduled maintenance"? It's almost like they don't want us to file our claims 🙄

•Conspiracy theory: they do it on purpose to reduce the number of claims filed 👀

Guys, I've been dealing with EDD for 6 months now. Here's my advice: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. It's saved my butt multiple times when they tried to say I didn't do something I know I did.
