EDD PFL Address Verification Issue - Need Advice for Phone Call
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with EDD paid family leave. They're saying there's an issue verifying my mailing address. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do when I finally get through to them on the phone?

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I had the same problem last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather ALL your proof of address docs. I'm talking utility bills, bank statements, even junk mail lol. 2. When you get through (good luck), explain calmly that you have documentation ready. 3. Ask them exactly what they need - sometimes they want specific stuff. 4. If they ask you to mail anything, send it certified so you have proof. 5. Follow up like crazy. Call back in a week if you don't hear anything. Stay strong, the system is a mess but you'll get through it!

•This is solid advice 💯 I'd add: take notes during the call! Write down who you talked to and what they said. It'll save you headaches later.

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely follow these steps. Quick question - did you have to provide multiple forms of proof or was one utility bill enough?

•For me, they wanted two different proofs of address. I used a utility bill and a bank statement. Better to have extra just in case!

•Got it, thanks again! I'll gather a few different documents to be safe.

have you tried updating your address online? sometimes that fixes it without having to call

•I tried that first actually, but it didn't seem to solve the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though!

•Ah bummer. Yeah EDD's online system is hit or miss. Good luck getting through on the phone!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

•It really does work! I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. I got a call back in about 2 hours. Way better than spending all day hitting redial.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I get it, it sucks to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, you know?

Anyone else feel like they're playing whack-a-mole with EDD? Fix one problem, another pops up 🙃 Hang in there OP!

Hey, former EDD employee here. For address verification, they usually want to see two different official documents with your name and address. Utility bills, bank statements, or government mail (like voter registration) work best. Avoid using handwritten mail or personal letters. Hope this helps!

•This is super helpful, thank you! Do you know if there's a specific department I should ask for when I call?

•Glad to help! For paid family leave, you'll want to speak with the Disability Insurance Branch. When you get through, just say you need help with PFL address verification.
