Just a heads up, EDD is really backed up right now due to all the covid stuff still. My claim took 2 months to process 😭 Hopefully yours goes faster!
Has anyone had luck getting their employer to supplement their PFL benefits? I heard some companies do that but mine is being stingy 🙄
Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes that gets faster results than mailing or uploading online.
Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading online? I've heard it can sometimes be faster. Might be worth a shot if you're really stuck.
Have you considered talking to your doctor about this? Sometimes they can help expedite the process by directly communicating with EDD about your change in medical status.
Quick question - are you sure you need to change from PFL to DI? Sometimes people confuse the two. PFL is for bonding with a new child or caring for a family member, while DI is for your own disability. Just want to make sure you're on the right track!

pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open. I always have better luck getting through early in the morning
