SDI payment delayed after doctor extended short-term disability - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my SDI payment. My doctor extended my short-term disability, but I haven't received my last payment yet. The paperwork was submitted correctly, but still no money. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's so frustrating when you're already dealing with health issues and then have to worry about money too. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

β’I've been trying to call all week, but the lines are always busy. It's like they don't want us to reach them π

β’Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through then.

β’Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my extension wasn't properly recorded. I had to go through a whole appeals process. It was a nightmare π«

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes the payment status is updated there before you actually receive the money.

β’Yeah, I've been refreshing it like crazy. Still says 'pending' π

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

β’I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

β’20 bucks tho? That's steep when you're already waiting on a payment π¬

β’I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get some answers. Plus, time is money, right?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check that your doctor submitted the correct form (it should be the DE 2501 for extensions). 2. Make sure your claim hasn't expired. If it has, you might need to file a new claim. 3. Call the SDI office and ask for a status update. Be persistent! 4. If calling doesn't work, try sending a secure message through your SDI online account. 5. As a last resort, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things through. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself! Good luck!

The whole system is broken af. They need to hire more people or upgrade their tech or something. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get the benefits we're entitled to π€

Hey OP, how long has it been since your doctor submitted the extension? Sometimes it can take a few weeks to process.

β’It's been about 3 weeks now. I'm getting worried because bills are piling up π°

β’Hang in there! 3 weeks is pushing it, but not unheard of. Def follow up if you don't hear anything by the end of this week.
