SDI claim issues: No payment yet, need help with re-certification and form confusion

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my disability benefits. I sent in my claim for continued benefits but haven't gotten paid yet. I'm wondering if anyone knows if I can re-certify over the phone like I did last time? Also, I got this separate form and I'm not sure if it's the right one for my doctor to fill out to extend my disability. Anyone been through this before?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The disability system is such a mess rn. I had to call like 50 times before I got through to someone who could help me recertify. It's ridiculous how hard they make it for people who are already struggling 🤦‍♂️

50 times?! That's insane. I gave up after 20 attempts. How long did you have to wait on hold each time?

Honestly, I lost track. Some calls I was on hold for over an hour before getting disconnected. It was a nightmare.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through on my third try doing that.

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone without all the hassle. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me so much time and stress. Worth every penny imo.

Can confirm, I used it too. Got through in like 30 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own.

About that form - make sure its the right one before you have your doc fill it out. I made that mistake and had to go back and forth with my doctor's office for weeks. Such a headache 😫

Hey OP, I've been through this process a few times. Here's what you need to know: • Re-certification over the phone is possible, but it depends on your specific situation. Some cases require written documentation. • The separate form is likely the 'Certification of Continued Disability' form. It's usually pink and is needed to extend benefits beyond the initial period. • Make sure your doctor fills out every section completely. Even small omissions can delay your claim. • Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. • If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via their online portal. Sometimes it's faster. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much! This is super helpful. The form I have is pink, so that must be the right one. I'll double check with my doctor to make sure it's filled out completely.

Great advice! I'd add: take pictures of the forms before you send them in. saved my butt when they 'lost' my paperwork 🙄

lol good luck. been waiting 3 months for my claim to process. system is broken af 🤡

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Nah, didn't even think of that. Might give it a shot tho, thx for the tip 👍

Anyone else notice how the rules for disability keep changing? I swear they make it more complicated every year just to discourage people from claiming 🤔

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing 4D chess and we're stuck with checkers

Conspiracy theory: they're hoping we'll all give up and go back to work even if we're not ready 😒

Hey, has anyone had luck with the online system? I've been trying to log in for days but it keeps giving me an error message. Is it just me or is the website total garbage?

Not just you. That website is held together with duct tape and prayers 😂
