PFL Claim: How to Report Supplemental Pay from Employer? EDD Confusion
Hey everyone, I'm filing for Paid Family Leave and I have a question about reporting wages. My company is giving me supplemental pay for 4 weeks to reach 100% of my regular salary. Should I report this when filing my PFL claim? Also, what type of pay should I select for this? And lastly, what's the deal with workers' compensation benefits? I'm a bit confused about how to answer that part.

Yes, you should definitely report the supplemental pay from your company when filing for PFL. It's important to be accurate and compliant with the requirements. For the type of pay, select "Other" and specify it as "Supplemental Pay" to clarify what it is.

ā¢This is good advice. I made the mistake of not reporting my supplemental pay and it caused issues with my claim later on. š Learn from my fail!

ā¢Quick question - does reporting supplemental pay affect the amount of PFL benefits you receive? š¤

ā¢It can potentially affect your benefits, depending on the amount and your specific situation. Best to report it and let EDD determine how it impacts your claim.

Workers' comp is for work-related injuries or illnesses. If you're not getting any benefits for a work injury, just answer "No" to that question. It's separate from PFL.

Ugh, the whole process is so confusing! 𤯠I've been trying to figure out my own PFL claim for weeks now. Anyone else feel like they need a law degree just to fill out these forms?

Pro tip: Keep detailed records of all your communications with EDD and your employer. It'll save you headaches down the road if there are any discrepancies or issues with your claim.

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not spending hours on hold was totally worth it.

Here's a comprehensive guide for reporting wages on your PFL claim: ⢠Always report any income you receive during your leave period ⢠This includes supplemental pay, vacation pay, or any other wages ⢠Be specific about the type of pay (use "Other" and clarify if needed) ⢠Keep detailed records of dates and amounts ⢠If in doubt, report it - better safe than sorry ⢠Remember, reporting doesn't necessarily mean reduction in benefits ⢠For workers' comp, only say yes if you're actually receiving those benefits ⢠Double-check all entries before submitting ⢠If you make a mistake, contact EDD immediately to correct it Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

ā¢You can check on the EDD website, but tbh it's not always up to date. Calling is usually faster if you can get through.

Just went through this same situation last month! I also had supplemental pay from my employer during my PFL. Here's what I learned: 1. **Definitely report the supplemental pay** - I selected "Other" for the pay type and wrote "Employer Supplemental Pay" in the description field 2. **Keep all your pay stubs** - EDD may request documentation later 3. **For workers' comp** - only answer "Yes" if you're actually receiving workers' comp benefits for a work injury. If you're just on regular PFL for bonding/family care, answer "No" 4. **The supplemental pay didn't reduce my benefits** - but every case is different The key is being transparent and accurate. Good luck with your claim! The process is definitely confusing but you'll get through it šŖ

ā¢This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you for sharing your experience @Ellie Simpson - it s'so reassuring to know that the supplemental pay didn t'reduce your benefits. I was worried about that part. Did you have any issues with EDD asking for additional documentation, or was the process pretty smooth once you submitted everything correctly?
