Need help getting IME extension - stuck on hold with claims office
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I need to get an extension on my IME (Independent Medical Examination) and I'm not sure how to go about it. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated. I'm worried about missing deadlines and potentially losing my benefits. Thanks in advance for any help!

Ugh, dealing with IMEs is such a pain. I had to get an extension last year and it was a nightmare. Have you tried calling the claims office directly? Sometimes they can help you out if you explain your situation.

ā¢Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call them all day but keep getting stuck on hold. It's so frustrating š¤

ā¢Pro tip: call first thing in the morning when they open. You're more likely to get through before the lines get jammed up.

ā¢That's a great idea, I'll definitely try that tomorrow. Fingers crossed š¤

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢No catch, I swear! I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of hold time. Totally worth the 20 bucks imho.

ā¢Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep redialing or what?

ā¢Sure! From what I understand, they use some kind of AI to navigate the phone menus and detect when a real person picks up. Then it calls you and connects you to the agent. Pretty clever tbh.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do to get that IME extension: ⢠First, gather all your medical records and any documentation showing why you need the extension. The more evidence, the better. ⢠Next, write a formal letter requesting the extension. Be specific about why you need it and how much additional time you're asking for. ⢠If possible, get a note from your doctor supporting your request. This can really help your case. ⢠Submit everything ASAP. Don't wait until the last minute or you might miss important deadlines. ⢠Follow up with a phone call to make sure they received your request. Be persistent but polite. ⢠If they deny your request, don't give up! You can usually appeal the decision. Remember, the key is to be proactive and thorough. Good luck!

Oof, IMEs are the worst. I swear they're designed to make us give up. Hang in there, OP! šŖ

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but make sure you're prepared for them to deny your extension request. It happened to me and I had to scramble to get everything done in time. Have a backup plan just in case!

hey quick question - how long ago did you file your initial claim? that might affect your options for getting an extension

Jamal Carter
ā¢I filed about 3 months ago. Does that make a difference?

Miguel Diaz
ā¢Yeah, it could. If its been less than 6 months, you might have more flexibility. Double check the paperwork they sent you, there should be info about deadlines and extensions in there.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is rigged against us? š¤ Like, why make it so hard to get basic help when we're already dealing with health issues? smh

Pro tip: If you cant get through on the phone, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes their PR team can escalate issues faster than customer service.
