How to update EDD automatic payment? Tips needed!
Hey everyone, I need to update my automatic payment for unemployment. Has anyone done this recently? Any tips or things I should watch out for? I'm worried about messing something up and not getting my benefits.

I just did this last week! It's not too bad, but make sure you have all your banking info ready. Also, double-check everything before you submit. I almost entered the wrong routing number 😅

•Did you have to wait long for the changes to take effect? I'm thinking about switching banks and I'm worried about a gap in payments.

Ugh, good luck. I tried to update mine and the system kept crashing. Ended up having to call them directly. Took FOREVER to get through.

•Same here! I was on hold for like 3 hours. There's gotta be a better way.

•I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, seriously? $20 to avoid being on hold? Is that even legit?

•Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I get the skepticism, but it's a real service. They even have reviews on Trustpilot. Just sharing what worked for me 🤷♂️

Make sure you keep a record of when you made the change and take screenshots if possible. EDD messed up my payment once and having proof saved my butt.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to be confusing on purpose? 🤔 Like, why can't they make this stuff easier?

•Preach! 🙌 I swear they do it to discourage people from claiming benefits. It's ridiculous.

Here's a detailed guide on updating your automatic payment: 1. Log into your EDD account 2. Navigate to the 'Payment Methods' section 3. Select 'Update Payment Information' 4. Enter your new banking details (double-check everything!) 5. Confirm the changes 6. Wait for a confirmation email (usually within 24 hours) 7. Check your account in 3-5 business days to ensure the update is reflected Pro tips: - Do this early in the week to avoid weekend processing delays - Keep your old account open until you confirm the new one is working - If you don't see the changes after a week, call EDD directly Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

•Wow, thank you so much! This is super helpful. Quick question - do I need to update my address if my new bank is in a different city?

•Nope, you don't need to update your address for a bank change. Just make sure your mailing address is current for any physical mail from EDD.

Am I the only one who's never had issues with EDD? Every time I've needed to update something it's been pretty smooth sailing 🤷♀️

PSA: If you're updating your payment info, make sure you're on the official EDD website! There are scams out there trying to steal your info. Always double-check the URL!

•Good call. My cousin almost fell for one of those phishing emails. Stay safe out there, folks!

Just went through this process myself! One thing I'd add to all the great advice here - if you're switching from one bank to another, definitely keep both accounts open for at least 2-3 weeks after making the change. EDD sometimes takes longer than expected to process updates, and you don't want to risk missing a payment because your old account got closed too early. Also, if you run into any issues with the online system, try using different browsers - Chrome worked better for me than Firefox for some reason. Good luck with the update!

•This is such good advice about keeping both accounts open! I learned this the hard way when I switched banks for a different service. The "buffer period" is so important. Also totally agree about trying different browsers - sometimes the EDD site just doesn't play nice with certain ones. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks for posting this question! I'm in a similar situation and was dreading having to figure this out. Reading through all these responses has been super helpful. The step-by-step guide from Sophia is exactly what I needed, and all the warnings about scam sites and keeping accounts open longer are things I wouldn't have thought of. It's crazy how something that should be simple can be so stressful when it's your benefits on the line! I'm definitely going to screenshot everything and do this on a weekday morning like suggested. Has anyone had experience updating from a credit union to a major bank? Wondering if that makes any difference in processing time.
