How to switch EDD payments from Money Network card to direct deposit?
Hey everyone, I need to switch my unemployment payments from the Money Network debit card to direct deposit into my bank account. Has anyone done this before? What's the process like? Any tips or things I should watch out for?

I just went through this process last month! It's actually pretty straightforward. You'll need to log into your unemployment account online and look for the payment method options. There should be a section where you can enter your bank account info for direct deposit. Make sure you have your routing and account numbers handy!

•This is super helpful, thanks! Do you remember how long it took for the change to take effect?

•For me, it took about 2 weeks for the switch to happen. The system told me it could take up to 3 payment cycles, but mine was faster.

•Did you have any issues with leftover money on the debit card? I'm worried about losing access to those funds.

•Good question! Any money already on the card stays there, so make sure to use it up or transfer it to your bank account before you lose the card. The new payments will go to your bank account after the switch.

•Story of my life 🙄 That website is a joke. Try using a different browser or clearing your cache. Sometimes that helps.

Just a heads up, make absolutely sure you enter your bank info correctly. I made a typo in my account number and it took FOREVER to get it sorted out. Triple check everything!

Has anyone found a way to actually talk to a real person at the unemployment office? I've been trying to call for days and can't get through. It's driving me crazy!

•I feel your pain! I was in the same boat until I found this awesome service called Claimyr. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you to a live agent when one picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. •Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I know it sounds crazy, but it really works! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It got me through to an agent in about an hour, which is way better than the days I spent trying on my own.

•$20 tho? Seems steep when calling should be free...

•I get that, but honestly, my time is worth more than that. Plus, I was able to get my issue resolved, which was worth way more than $20 in the long run.

PSA: If you're switching to direct deposit, be aware that there might be a gap in payments during the transition. Make sure you have enough saved up to cover a week or two just in case!

•This is so important! I wish someone had told me this before I switched. I was caught off guard and it was a stressful couple of weeks.

Does anyone know if changing to direct deposit affects your claim in any other way? Like, do they review your eligibility again or anything?

•Nah, you're good. It's just a payment method change, doesn't trigger any kind of review. At least that's how it was for me last year.

•Oh thank god, that's a relief. Thanks!

Pro tip: Take a screenshot of your confirmation page after you submit the direct deposit info. It's come in handy for me when there were issues and I needed to prove I had made the change.

Is it weird that I'm kinda gonna miss that debit card? It was like my lil unemployment buddy for a while there 😂

Serious question: has anyone had issues with their bank after switching to direct deposit? My bank once froze my account when I got a large deposit and I'm worried about that happening with unemployment payments.

•I haven't had any problems, but it might be worth giving your bank a heads up that you'll be receiving unemployment deposits. Better safe than sorry!

•That's actually a really smart idea! I had a similar thing happen with a tax refund once. Most banks have fraud detection that can get triggered by unusual deposits. A quick call to let them know you're switching to direct deposit for unemployment could save you a lot of headache.
