How long for PA UC Money Network card to bank account direct deposit switch to take effect?
I'm so tired of dealing with the Money Network card for my unemployment payments! The fees are killing me and the ATM near me never seems to work right. I finally decided to switch to direct deposit to my checking account. Filled out all the info on the PA UC portal yesterday, but I'm wondering how long this typically takes to process? Will my next payment still go to the card or will it hit my bank account? Anyone made this switch recently? Just trying to plan my bills accordingly since I'm cutting it close this month. Thanks in advance!

When I switched from Money Network to direct deposit last month, it took EXACTLY 7-10 business days to process. My next payment still went to the card, but the one after that was deposited directly to my bank. The UC system is SO SLOW with anything related to payment methods!!!

•Ugh seriously? I was hoping it would be faster! Do they at least notify you when the change is approved or do you just have to keep checking?

I work at a bank and help customers with this all the time. The PA UC system usually takes 2 payment cycles to process direct deposit changes. Here's what you need to know: 1. The change request typically processes in 5-7 business days 2. Any payment already in process when you submitted will still go to your Money Network card 3. You can check your payment method status on your dashboard under "Payment Information" 4. Double-check that you entered your routing and account numbers correctly 5. Keep your Money Network card until you confirm a successful direct deposit Also, make sure you filed a change request and not just added bank info. They're two different steps in the system.

my sisters boyfriends mom works at unemployment and she said the computer only updates payment info on mondays so if u missed the monday cutoff u have to wait a whole nother week, that happend to me and i was so mad!!

•That doesn't sound right. I've had updates process on different days of the week. I think it depends more on when your regular payment cycle falls. The PA UC system processes these changes in batches, but not necessarily only on Mondays.

I had the WORST experience switching to direct deposit!!! Took almost a MONTH because they kept saying there was an "issue with my account verification" but never told me what it was!!! Had to call them 6 TIMES and each time waited over 2 hours!!! This system is BROKEN and they DO NOT CARE about us!!!

•A month?? That's insane! I can't wait that long. Did you ever figure out what the verification issue was?

•YES! After all that time it turns out my bank account had a "hold" on it because I had changed my address recently. So stupid because the bank never told me that would affect anything!!! The UC people couldn't see this but kept rejecting it anyway. RIDICULOUS!!

When I needed to change my direct deposit info last year, I kept getting busy signals for days trying to reach someone. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a PA UC rep right away and they processed my change while I was on the phone. Took about 5 mins once I actually talked to someone. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. So much better than waiting for days or even weeks for the online change to process.

•does this claimyr thing really work? i keep seeing people mention it but seems like u would still have to wait on hold forever

•It definitely worked for me. They basically keep dialing for you so you don't have to keep calling back after getting busy signals. Once they get through, they connect you directly to a UC agent. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate after trying for 3 days on my own.

To follow up on what I said earlier - one important thing to note is that the timing can vary based on when in your benefit week you make the change. If you do it right after your weekly claim is processed, you'll likely wait the full 7-10 days. If you do it right before your next payment processes, it might miss that cycle and take longer. Also, sometimes direct deposit changes trigger a review of your claim (it's a security measure), which can add a few days to the process. Just be patient and keep checking your dashboard.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation! I made the change right after filing my weekly claim, so hopefully it processes before the next one. I'll keep an eye on my dashboard like you suggested.

•I know, right?! Those fees add up so fast! That's exactly why I'm switching.

Update: I successfully switched from Money Network to direct deposit earlier this year. Here's my timeline: - Jan 15: Submitted direct deposit info - Jan 18: Status changed to "pending verification" - Jan 24: Received payment on Money Network card (last one) - Jan 27: Status changed to "active" - Feb 7: First direct deposit payment received So it took about 2 weeks total, with one payment cycle in between. Just make sure you've triple-checked your account and routing numbers. One digit off and your payment could go who-knows-where!

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that my direct deposit switch went through! Took 8 business days for the status to change to active in the system. My payment from last week went to the Money Network card as expected, but today's payment hit my bank account directly! Thanks everyone for the helpful information and suggestions. Such a relief to be done with that card!

•Great to hear! Thanks for updating us. I'd still recommend keeping that Money Network card in a safe place until your claim ends, just in case there are any issues or adjustments that might get sent there.

•Good tip! I'll definitely hang onto it just in case. Hoping I find a job soon anyway, but at least the payments will be easier to manage now.

Congrats on getting it switched over! I'm going through the same process right now - submitted my direct deposit info 3 days ago and the waiting is killing me. Those Money Network fees are absolutely ridiculous, especially when you're already struggling financially. Good to know it typically takes about a week to process. Did you get any kind of confirmation email when the status changed, or did you just have to keep checking the portal?
