How long for first SDI check? Claim verification MIA, need advice

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a disability claim and I'm totally lost. I haven't heard anything back about my claim verification and I'm getting worried. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the first check after opening a new claim? I'm starting to feel like I'm just shouting into the void here.

Ugh, I feel ya. I've been there and it's frustrating as hell. Typically, it takes about 14-21 days to get your first disability check after opening a new claim. But that's assuming all your verification stuff is complete. Have you double-checked that you submitted everything they asked for?

Thanks for the info! I think I've submitted everything, but now I'm second-guessing myself. Maybe I should call and check?

Definitely worth a call. Better to be sure than to wait around for nothing, right? Good luck!

Calling is always a good idea, but be prepared to wait on hold FOREVER. šŸ™„ Bring a book or something lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of hold time.

20 bucks tho? Idk if its worth it...

For me it was. Time is money, and I was losing my mind waiting on hold. But yeah, everyone's situation is different.

pro tip: keep ALL ur paperwork. I mean everything. They lost my stuff twice and I had to resend it. Such a headache šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Has anyone else noticed that the system seems even slower lately? I swear it's taking twice as long as it did last year. Maybe budget cuts or something?

Omg yes! I thought it was just me. It's like they're moving in slow motion or something.

I heard they're understaffed. My cousin works there and says its a mess rn

Here's what I've learned from my experience with disability claims: • Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit • Follow up regularly (weekly is good) • Use their online portal if possible, it's usually faster • If you call, try early morning or late afternoon • Double-check all your info before submitting to avoid delays • If you have a doctor or case worker, ask them to follow up too Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but you'll get through it!

anyone else think its ridiculous we gotta jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? smh

Preach! šŸ™Œ The whole system needs an overhaul.

It's a joke. They make it so complicated on purpose, I swear.

Hey OP, what kind of disability if you don't mind me asking? Some types tend to get processed faster than others.

It's for a back injury from work. Not sure if that makes a difference?

Ah gotcha. Work-related stuff can sometimes take a bit longer cuz they might need to verify with your employer. Hang in there!
