EDD won't send medical examiner referral or process payments - help!
I'm so frustrated with EDD right now. They haven't sent my payment because they need to send a referral for an independent medical examiner. I tried making an appointment, but the examiner's office said they hadn't received any referral from EDD. On top of that, I need EDD to pay me up until they actually make the referral. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get them to send the referral and process my payments?

I found a way to solve EDD referral delay issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v07U-0PhOBw

Ugh, EDD is such a nightmare. I've been in the same boat, waiting for them to send a referral. It took me calling them every single day for two weeks straight before they finally sent it. Keep pushing!

•Every day for two weeks? That's insane! Did you have any tricks to actually get through to a human?

•Honestly, it was just pure persistence. I'd start calling right when they opened and keep trying throughout the day. It's exhausting, but it worked eventually.

•This is why the system is so broken. Nobody should have to spend two weeks of their life just trying to get basic assistance. 🤦♂️

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Ask for a supervisor if the regular rep can't help. 3. Contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. 4. File a formal complaint with EDD. 5. Consider reaching out to local media if it goes on too long. Sometimes public pressure helps. Stay persistent and don't give up. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure to follow up any phone conversations with an email summarizing what was discussed. Creates a paper trail.

•Thank you so much for this detailed plan. I'll definitely start documenting everything and try to escalate if needed.

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 to maybe talk to someone? Idk man, seems sketchy.

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Just used it yesterday. Can confirm it works. Got through in about 45 minutes.

This happened to me last year. turns out the examiner's office lost my referral. Make sure you're bugging both EDD AND the examiner's office. Don't assume its just EDD's fault (even tho it usually is lol

•Oh wow, I hadn't even considered that. I'll definitely follow up with the examiner's office again. Thanks for the tip!

I'm an ex-EDD employee. Here's a pro tip: call right at 8:01 AM. That's when the queue opens and you're most likely to get through. Also, be super nice to the rep - we're more likely to go the extra mile for pleasant callers.

•Well, I probably shouldn't say this, but... if you get a rep who seems unhelpful, politely end the call and try again. Some reps are definitely more motivated than others.

have you tried reaching out on social media? sometimes public callouts on twitter or facebook can light a fire under their a**es

Ugh, I feel for you. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. The whole system needs an overhaul.

•Barely. Living off credit cards and help from family. It's a nightmare.
