EDD still sending collection notices after overpayment reimbursed 3 months ago - Help!
I'm so frustrated with EDD right now. I paid back an overpayment 3 months ago, but they keep sending me letters saying I didn't pay and threatening legal action. I have proof from my bank and payment receipts that I paid everything on February 15th. How do I get them to update their records and stop harassing me? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Ugh, classic EDD. Their system is so messed up. I had a similar issue last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call them ASAP. Like, yesterday. 2. Have all your proof ready - bank statements, receipts, everything. 3. Ask to speak to a supervisor if the first person can't help. 4. Get a confirmation number for your call. 5. Follow up with a written letter, including copies of your proof. 6. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it with these clowns. 🤡

•This is solid advice. I'd add one more thing: keep a log of every interaction. Date, time, who you spoke to, what was said. It'll save your butt if things escalate.

•Calling them is easier said than done tho. I spent HOURS trying to get through last month. 😫

•True that. It's a total nightmare getting through. But ya gotta keep trying. It's like fishing - eventually, you'll catch something. 🎣

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It worked like a charm. Saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to make a phone call. 😬

•I get it, but for me, it was worth every penny. Time is money, and I wasted so much time trying to get through on my own.

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds like were back in the 90s lol but sometimes old school methods work best with these dinosaur agencies

This happened to me too! It took MONTHS to get it sorted out. The EDD is such a mess. I swear they're living in the stone age with their tech. Hang in there, OP. 💪

•Ugh, months? I was hoping this would be a quick fix. How did you finally get it resolved?

•Honestly? Pure persistence. I called every day for a week straight until I got someone who actually knew what they were doing. It was exhausting, but it worked.

•LOL trust me, I triple-checked everything. My bank may be shady, but not THAT shady. 😅

I work in finance (not for EDD) and see this kinda thing alot. Sometimes payments get applied to the wrong account or get stuck in processing. Def call them and ask them to trace the payment. If you have a confirmation number from when you paid, that'll help a ton.

•Thanks for the insider perspective! I'll definitely ask about tracing the payment. Fingers crossed it's just stuck somewhere in their system. 🤞

This is why I always tell people to document EVERYTHING when dealing with government agencies. Take screenshots, save emails, record calls (if legal in your state). You never know when you'll need to prove your case.

Oof, sounds rough buddy. Dealing with EDD is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Keep pushing tho, you'll get there!
