EDD hasn't paid since OB extended pregnancy disability - what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My OB extended my pregnancy disability, but I haven't received any payments since then. I got a notice saying they received new info from my doctor's office, but that's it. No money coming in. Anyone else deal with this? What should I do next?

I found a way to solve delayed pregnancy disability payments, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqgI2mZFKJU

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be persistent to get answers.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to get through?

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they had an agent on the line.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check that your doctor submitted all the required paperwork. Sometimes they miss stuff. 2. Log into your EDD account online and make sure your claim status is up to date. 3. If you can get through on the phone, ask for a tier 2 specialist. They have more authority to fix issues. 4. Consider filing an appeal if you think there's been a mistake. 5. Reach out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes expedite claims. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but don't give up. You're entitled to those benefits.

6 weeks? That's rough. I'm on week 4 of waiting. Starting to get really worried...

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when your OB extended the disability? Like a claim number or reference number?

Jasmine Quinn

Now that you mention it, I don't think I did. Should I have gotten something?

Yeah, usually they send some kind of acknowledgment. Might be worth following up with your OB's office to make sure everything went through correctly.

Not to be that person, but have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes old school methods work better with these dinosaur agencies 🦕📠

Don't tell me to calm down! I have bills to pay and a baby on the way. This is serious!

Has anyone tried going to an EDD office in person? I heard sometimes that can help speed things up.

I tried last month. Waited in line for 3 hours only to be told they couldn't help me in person and I needed to call. Total waste of time.

Depends on the office and who you talk to. I got lucky and found someone super helpful at my local office. YMMV

pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your calls, letters, and interactions with EDD. it'll help if you need to escalate or appeal later.
