EDD SDI payment delay after disability extension - How to check status?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My disability was extended and my doctor sent in a supplementary certificate, but I haven't heard anything about when my next payment is coming. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm getting worried about bills piling up and could really use some advice on how to find out when I'll get paid.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes it gets through faster than online submissions. Just a thought!

Faxing seems outdated but if it works, it works. Worth a try in these situations!

Has anyone else noticed that the wait times seem to be getting worse lately? I swear it's like they're understaffed or something. It's ridiculous!

Yep, it's a total mess. I heard they had a bunch of temp workers during the pandemic peak and now they're all gone. We're back to skeleton crew I guess 🙄

Maybe if they paid their workers better, they'd have enough staff to actually help us 🤷♀️ Just a thought, EDD!

Increasing staffing and better resource allocation could definitely improve the system's efficiency.

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with EDD for YEARS and here's what I've learned: 1. Persistence is key. Call every day if you have to. 2. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 3. Use the online portal to send messages. Sometimes they respond faster that way. 4. If you're really stuck, consider hiring an advocate. They know the system inside and out. 5. Don't give up! It's frustrating as hell, but you'll get your money eventually. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Be polite but firm, and don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

Adding to this: if you're using social media, try engaging with EDD there. Public pressure sometimes works wonders!

Ugh, I feel you. The system is so broken rn. I've been waiting for weeks to hear back about my claim. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare but sometimes you can get lucky.

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. I've been on hold for hours and then get disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins of waiting last week. Good luck!

That's solid advice. Sometimes, calling during non-peak hours helps, like lunchtime. Worth a try!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the info there before they actually send out payments. Might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been checking my account daily but no updates yet. It's so stressful not knowing when the money will come through.

Online account updates are hit or miss tbh. I've had payments show up without any notice before. The whole system is a crapshoot 🤷♂️

True, but it's always good to keep an eye on it. Sometimes glitches happen, but better safe than sorry.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

Totally get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. I was desperate and took a chance. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take to get connected to an agent using this?

Seems like a good option if you're really stuck. But yeah, $20 is a lot if you're already strapped for cash.

Hey OP, regarding the Claimyr tool, it's a legitimate service that has helped many get through to EDD faster. However, it is a cost that not everyone may be willing to take on. Balancing out the necessity versus the cost is important. It might be worth exploring other avenues, such as contacting your local representatives, as mentioned. They can sometimes expedite claims due to their direct contacts within governmental agencies. Additionally, keeping meticulous records of all interactions and attempts to contact EDD can also be beneficial if you need to escalate the situation. It's unfortunate that the system is overloaded, but persistence and trying multiple strategies can make a difference. Hang in there, and continue reaching out to community resources for support.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? They sometimes have contacts at EDD who can help push claims through faster. Worth a shot!

I hadn't thought of that! Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'assemblymember' or 'state senator'. Their websites usually have a 'contact us' form. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!
