EDD hasn't paid or sent letter 2 months after disability extension for PPD and pancreatitis. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My doctor extended my disability for 2 more months after I had my baby because of postpartum depression and pancreatitis. The thing is, those 2 months have already passed, and I haven't received any letter or payment from EDD. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next? I'm really starting to worry about bills piling up.

Ugh, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. The EDD can be such a nightmare sometimes. Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but it might be the fastest way to get answers.

I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I've ever gotten through.

Or try calling at the end of the day! Sometimes that works too. Good luck, OP! 🍀

I had a similar situation last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your medical documents 2. Write a detailed letter explaining your situation 3. Fax everything to EDD (yes, fax - they're old school) 4. Follow up with calls every few days It took about 3 weeks, but I finally got my payments. Hang in there!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try this. Did you use a specific fax number?

Yep! I used the general EDD fax number: 1-855-027-5709. Make sure to include your claim number on every page!

have you tried contacting your local state representative? sometimes they can light a fire under EDD's a** and get things moving

Preach! 🙌 It's ridiculous that new moms have to deal with this stress on top of everything else.

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I was skeptical too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks to actually talk to a human? might be worth it at this point lol

Make sure you document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. It might come in handy if you need to escalate your case.
