EDD disability extension approved but missing continued claim certification form - no payment

So my doctor just extended my disability claim and according to EDD they received the extension paperwork on 7/21. I even got a text confirmation from them saying they received my doctor's form, and when I log into SDI Online it shows my disability period has been extended properly. Great, right? WRONG. It's been over a week and I haven't received any money! When I check under my claim status it says "to continue to receive payments submit a continued claims certification" but there's absolutely nothing in my SDI Online inbox or under my account about this certification form. Nothing in my physical mail either. I'm so confused - where is this continued claim certification supposed to come from? Will it show up in my SDI Online inbox eventually? Get emailed to me? Sent by carrier pigeon?? I've got bills piling up and cannot afford to wait much longer for this payment. Has anyone dealt with this continued certification thing for extensions before? How long does it typically take for them to send this form?

I just went through this last month with my pregnancy disability extension. The continued claim certification form should appear in your SDI Online inbox usually within 5-7 days after they acknowledge receiving the doctor's extension. Sometimes there's a system delay though. Have you checked under the "Forms" tab in your SDI Online account? Sometimes it shows up there instead of the inbox. Also check your spam folder if you have email notifications turned on.

Thanks for responding! I checked everywhere in my SDI Online account - the Forms tab, the inbox, everything. There's nothing there about a continued claim certification. And nothing in my spam folder either. It's so frustrating because my benefit period is clearly updated in the system, but I have no way to certify and get paid!

The same EXACT thing happend to me back in may!!! first time was fine but when my dr extended it the payments just stopped. turns out u have to call them directly, nobody tells u that part. good luck getting thru tho lol

0 coins

Ugh I was afraid of that. I've been trying to call them for days but always get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then they hang up. Did you ever get through? How long did it take to fix once you reached someone?

This is a relatively common issue with disability extensions. When your doctor submits the extension paperwork, the system should automatically generate a continued claim certification form, but there's often a disconnect that requires manual intervention. Here's what you should do: 1. Keep checking your SDI Online inbox daily - sometimes it appears after 10-14 days 2. Call EDD directly at 1-800-480-3287 right when they open at 8:00am (best time to get through) 3. Ask specifically about the "DE 2502 Continued Claim Certification" form for your extension They'll likely need to manually trigger the form to appear in your account. Until you complete this certification, payments will remain on hold even though your extension was approved.

Thank you for the detailed information! That DE 2502 form must be what I need. I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow. I had no idea extensions had this extra certification step - you'd think EDD would make that clear when they confirm receiving the extension paperwork.

my sister works for doctor office that handles ALOT of disability claims and she says this happens ALL THE TIME with extensions!!!!!!!! its so stupid because the doctor already certified u need more time off so why do they make u jump through more hoops????? the whole system is designed to make it hard to get ur benefits that u paid for!!!!!

0 coins

I understand the frustration, but technically the continued claim certification is different from the doctor's certification. The doctor's form proves you still have a medical condition, while the DE 2502 confirms you haven't returned to work and aren't receiving other income during that specific period. The system is definitely confusing though.

Try using Claimyr to get through to EDD. I was in the exact same situation last month and was going crazy trying to reach someone. Claimyr got me connected to a disability rep in under 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The rep fixed my certification issue right away and my payment was processed the next day. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd and their website is claimyr.com. Totally worth it when you're desperate to get your benefits.

0 coins

does this actually work??? im not paying for something that should be FREE. the government already takes enough of our money!!

0 coins

It definitely worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after trying for almost a week to get through on my own, I was desperate. Got connected to an actual EDD disability rep who could see my claim and fix the issue. I know it sucks to pay anything, but waiting weeks for thousands in benefits over a simple form issue seemed worse to me.

I had a NIGHTMARE with my extension back in April. Nobody told me I needed to do another certification after my doctor submitted the extension paperwork. I ended up losing 3 weeks of pay because I didn't certify in time!!!! When I finally got through to EDD, they told me I could only backdate the certification for 14 days. MAKE SURE you get that form and submit it ASAP once you find it!!

0 coins

Oh no, that's terrifying! I didn't realize there was a time limit on these certifications. I'm already almost 2 weeks into my extension period. Now I'm really worried I could lose benefits. This is so stressful.

I finally got this resolved today!! Started calling EDD right at 8am when they opened and somehow got through immediately. The rep explained that when my doctor's extension was processed, someone made a data entry error - they put a numeric zero instead of the letter O in my information which caused the system to not generate my continued claim certification form! She fixed it on her end and said my payment should be issued within 24-48 hours. There wasn't even a form for me to submit after all - once she fixed the error, the system automatically processed my certification. So for anyone else with this issue - CALL EDD! Sometimes it's just a simple data entry mistake that's causing the problem.

0 coins

thats awesome u got it fixed!! see this is why their system is so broken - one tiny mistake and ur whole payment gets held up with no explanation 🤦‍♀️

0 coins

That's great news! This actually happens surprisingly often - small data entry errors that cause systemic problems. Glad you got it resolved and will be receiving your payment soon. For future reference (for anyone reading this), if you don't see a continued claim certification form within 7 days of an extension being processed, it's always best to call EDD rather than waiting longer.

I'm dealing with something very similar right now! My disability extension was approved about 10 days ago and I can see the updated benefit period in my SDI Online account, but no continued claim certification form anywhere. I've been checking daily and nothing shows up in my inbox or under Forms. Reading through these comments, it sounds like calling EDD first thing in the morning is the way to go. I'm going to try the 8am strategy tomorrow and specifically ask about the DE 2502 form that was mentioned. It's so frustrating that this isn't more clearly communicated when they approve the extension - you'd think they'd at least send a notice explaining the next steps! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. At least now I know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue and there are solutions.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! My extension was approved 5 days ago and I can see the updated benefit period in my SDI Online account, but there's absolutely no continued claim certification form anywhere. I've been checking my inbox, Forms tab, and even my physical mail multiple times a day with no luck. Based on what everyone is saying here, it sounds like calling EDD at 8am sharp is really the only way to get this resolved. I'm definitely going to try that tomorrow and ask specifically about the DE 2502 form. It's so ridiculous that they don't automatically send you instructions about this certification step when they approve your extension - how are we supposed to know we need to do another form? @Andre Laurent - definitely try calling first thing in the morning like others have suggested. It seems like there are often system glitches or data entry errors that only a human can fix. Good luck getting through!

@Isaiah Cross I m'in the exact same boat! It s'so reassuring to know I m'not alone in this mess. I ve'been checking my SDI Online account obsessively too and there s'just nothing there about any certification form. I m'definitely going to try the 8am calling strategy tomorrow - seems like that s'really the only way to get answers. I m'going to write down that DE 2502 form number that @Sophia Nguyen mentioned so I can ask specifically about it. It s honestly'ridiculous that EDD doesn t send'any kind of notification or instructions when they approve an extension. Like, a simple message saying Your extension "is approved, you ll receive'a continued claim certification form within X days would save" everyone so much stress and confusion. But I guess that would make too much sense for a government agency 🙄 Fingers crossed we both get this sorted out soon. Bills don t pay'themselves!

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My extension was approved 6 days ago, the benefit period shows correctly in SDI Online, but zero certification forms anywhere. I've been stress-checking my account multiple times daily and calling the main number with no luck getting through. Reading all these responses is both helpful and infuriating - helpful because now I know what to ask for (that DE 2502 form), but infuriating because it's clear EDD has a systemic problem with this process. Why don't they automatically explain the certification requirement when they send that initial "extension approved" text? I'm going to set my alarm for 7:55am tomorrow and try the early morning calling strategy. If that doesn't work, I might have to consider that Claimyr service someone mentioned, even though I hate paying for something that should be straightforward government service. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least we're all suffering through this broken system together! 😅

@Oliver Wagner I m'right there with you! Just went through this exact nightmare last week. Set my alarm for 7:55am and called right at 8:00am - actually got through on the second try! Turns out my certification form was stuck in some kind of processing queue due to a system "flag on" my account. The rep cleared it manually and the DE 2502 form appeared in my SDI Online inbox within an hour. Pro tip: when you get through, ask them to check for any pending "actions or" system "flags on" your account. That seems to be a common issue that prevents the certification from generating automatically. Also have your claim number ready - they ll'need it right away. The whole thing is so unnecessarily stressful when you re'already dealing with a disability! But once you get the right person on the phone, they can usually fix it pretty quickly. Good luck tomorrow morning! 🤞

I'm going through this EXACT same situation right now! My extension was approved 8 days ago and I can see the updated benefit period in my SDI Online account, but there's absolutely no continued claim certification form anywhere - not in my inbox, not under Forms, not in my physical mail. Nothing! It's such a relief to read all these comments and realize this is a widespread issue with EDD's system. I had no idea about the DE 2502 form or that extensions required a separate certification step. You'd think when they send that "extension approved" text they'd mention "oh by the way, you'll need to complete another form to actually get paid" but apparently that's too logical for EDD. I'm definitely going to try the 8am calling strategy tomorrow. @Sofia Perez thanks for the tip about asking for "system flags" - that sounds like exactly the kind of technical glitch that would cause this problem. It's honestly insane that we have to become EDD system experts just to get our own benefits! @Andre Laurent I hope you got through to them by now! This whole thread is proof that you're definitely not alone in dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare.

@Dmitry Smirnov This whole situation is absolutely maddening! I m'dealing with the exact same thing - extension approved 4 days ago, benefit period updated in the system, but no certification form anywhere. It s'like they deliberately designed this process to be as confusing and stressful as possible. What really gets me is that we re'all here troubleshooting EDD s'broken system for each other because they can t'be bothered to provide clear instructions or make their process work properly. We shouldn t'have to become experts in their internal form numbers and system glitches just to access benefits we ve'already paid into! I m'going to try calling at 8am tomorrow too and ask about those system "flags that" @Sofia Perez mentioned. Hopefully we can all get this sorted out soon because waiting weeks for payments over a missing form is just cruel when people are already dealing with medical issues. Thanks for sharing your experience - it helps to know we re not'going crazy and this really is EDD s fault,'not ours!

I'm going through the EXACT same nightmare right now! My extension was approved 9 days ago, I can see the updated benefit period in my SDI Online account, but there's absolutely no continued claim certification form anywhere. I've been checking my inbox, Forms tab, and physical mail multiple times a day with nothing to show for it. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both reassuring and infuriating - reassuring because I'm clearly not alone or crazy, but infuriating because this is obviously a systemic problem with EDD that they refuse to fix or even acknowledge properly. The fact that they send an "extension approved" text but don't mention you need to complete another certification to actually GET PAID is just cruel. I'm definitely going to try the 8am calling strategy tomorrow and ask specifically about the DE 2502 form and any "system flags" on my account. It's ridiculous that we all have to become EDD troubleshooting experts just to access benefits we've already paid into, but here we are helping each other navigate their broken system. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - this thread is more helpful than anything EDD has provided! Fingers crossed we all get our payments sorted out soon because bills don't stop coming just because EDD can't get their act together.

@Molly Hansen I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! I just want to add that when you call tomorrow, also ask them to verify that all your personal information especially (SSN and address is) entered correctly in their system. I ve'seen cases where a single digit typo can cause the certification forms to get lost in the system. Also, if you can t'get through by calling, try using the Contact "EDD feature" in your SDI Online account and select Disability "Insurance then" Missing "Forms as" your issue type. Sometimes the online contact gets routed to specialists who can actually help with these technical glitches. It s'absolutely insane that we re'all dealing with this same issue and having to troubleshoot EDD s'broken system for each other. You d'think after hundreds of people experience the same problem, they d'fix the root cause, but apparently that s'too much to ask. Stay strong - from what I ve'read here, most people do eventually get it resolved once they reach the right person!

@Jamal Wilson I m'so glad this thread has been helpful for you! I m'actually dealing with this exact same situation too - my extension was approved 3 days ago and there s'absolutely no certification form anywhere in my account. It s'honestly mind-blowing that this is such a widespread issue but EDD hasn t'bothered to fix their system or even provide clear communication about it. Your checklist for calling tomorrow is perfect - I m'going to write those exact same questions down. The fact that we all have to become EDD system experts just to get our own benefits is absolutely insane. I ve'been losing sleep over this thinking I did something wrong, but clearly it s'just their broken system failing people left and right. It really helps to know I m'not alone in this nightmare. Hopefully we ll'all get through tomorrow morning and get our payments sorted out! Keep us posted on how your call goes - I ll'be calling right at 8am too and can share what I learn. I've written down all the key points to ask about: - The DE 2502 Continued Claim Certification form specifically - Any "system flags" or data entry errors on my account - Pending actions that might be blocking the form from generating - Verification that all my personal info is entered correctly It's honestly shameful that we're all here doing EDD's job for them, troubleshooting their broken system and helping each other navigate what should be a straightforward process. @Aisha Hussain I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this too! I m'actually in a very similar boat - my extension was approved about a week ago and I m'experiencing the exact same issue with the missing certification form. It s'both comforting and frustrating to see how many of us are going through this identical problem. Your checklist for tomorrow s'call is spot on! I d'also suggest having your claim number and the exact date your extension was approved ready when you call - from what others have shared, the reps usually need that information right away. I ve'been reading through this entire thread multiple times and it s'honestly incredible how we ve'all had to become amateur EDD system analysts just to get our own benefits. The fact that there s'no clear communication about this certification step when they approve extensions is just cruel, especially when people are already dealing with medical issues and financial stress. I m'planning to call at 8am sharp tomorrow too. Hopefully we ll'both get through and can share our experiences to help others in this thread. @Jeremiah Brown I m'so glad you found this thread helpful! I m'actually a newcomer to this community but have been dealing with disability benefits issues myself, so I really feel for everyone going through this frustrating situation. It s'incredible how many people are experiencing this exact same problem with missing certification forms after extensions get approved. The fact that EDD s'system has such a widespread glitch but they don t'proactively communicate about it or fix it is really telling about how they treat people who are already vulnerable due to medical issues. Your plan for tomorrow sounds solid - having all those specific questions written down is smart because it s'easy to forget what to ask when you finally get someone on the phone after waiting so long. I really hope you re'able to get through at 8am and get this sorted out quickly. It s'honestly heartwarming to see how this community has come together to help each other navigate EDD s'broken system. @Andre Dupont I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! As someone new to this community, I ve'been reading through all these experiences and it s'honestly shocking how widespread this issue is. The fact that so many people are dealing with the exact same problem - extension approved, benefit period updated, but no certification form anywhere - really shows there s'a serious systematic problem with EDD s'process. Your plan for calling tomorrow sounds perfect, and having all those specific questions written down is really smart. From what I ve'read in this thread, it seems like once you get the right person on the phone, they can usually identify and fix whatever technical glitch is preventing your DE 2502 form from generating. It s'really heartening to see how this community has come together to help each other navigate what should be a straightforward government process. You shouldn t'have to become an expert in EDD s'internal system just to access benefits you ve'already paid into, but the collective knowledge everyone has shared here is invaluable for people in crisis. @Caleb Bell I m'new to this community but have been following this thread and I m'amazed at how many people are experiencing this exact same issue! It s'really eye-opening to see how EDD s'system consistently fails people at such a critical point - getting an extension approved but then having payments held up because of a missing form that should generate automatically. Your plan to call at 8am tomorrow sounds solid based on what everyone else has shared. The collective wisdom in this thread about asking for the DE 2502 form specifically and checking for system "flags seems" to be the key to getting this resolved. It s'honestly incredible that we all have to become amateur EDD technical support specialists just to get our own benefits! As someone just learning about these issues, I m'really struck by how this community has stepped up to help each other navigate what should be a straightforward government process. The fact that EDD doesn t'proactively communicate about this certification requirement when they approve extensions is just inexcusable, especially when people are already dealing with medical issues and financial stress. Good luck with your call tomorrow - I hope you get through quickly and get this nightmare resolved!
