EDD denied claim due to date issues - need help fixing!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my EDD claim. They denied it saying the beginning date can't be more than 7 days before I first saw a doctor. But that's not right! I have proof that my first exam was within the right timeframe. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this fixed?

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. 🙄 I had a similar issue last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your medical records that show the correct dates 2. Call EDD (good luck getting through lol) 3. Explain the situation calmly and ask them to update the info 4. If they won't budge, ask to speak to a supervisor 5. Follow up with an email, attaching your documents Stay persistent! It's a pain, but you'll get there. 💪

This is solid advice! I'd add: keep a log of every call, including date, time, and who you spoke to. It helps if you need to escalate later.

Calling EDD is like trying to win the lottery these days 😩 I spent WEEKS trying to get through!

True that! It's a total nightmare. I think I aged 10 years just waiting on hold 😂

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

have you tried faxing your documents? sometimes that works better than calling or emailing. old school but effective 📠

This happened to me too! The EDD system is so broken. I ended up having to file an appeal. It took forever, but I finally got it sorted. Hang in there!

How long did the appeal process take? I'm worried about bills piling up while I wait 😰

It took about 6 weeks for me. Not gonna lie, it was rough. But they did backpay once it was resolved.

pro tip: if u can, try to get help from ur local assembly members office. they have special contacts at EDD and can sometimes speed things up

This! 👆 My assemblyman's office was a game-changer. Def worth a shot.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The system is a joke. 🤡

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people.

Totally agree. We need serious reform. This isn't working for anyone except maybe the bureaucrats.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending notices. Might give you a clue about whats going on

@Toot-n-Mighty I went through something similar a few months ago! The key is having your documentation organized before you contact them. Make sure you have: - Original medical records with clear dates - Any appointment confirmations/receipts - Photos of any documentation they might have missed Also, when you do get through to someone, ask them to document the conversation in your file. That way if you have to call back, the next person can see what was discussed. Don't give up - I know it's frustrating but you've got this! 💪 And definitely try that assemblyman tip from @Giovanni Rossi if the regular channels don't work. Sometimes you need that extra push to get things moving.
