EDD address confusion: mixed up mailing and residential addresses on form. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my EDD address situation. I recently sent in a form where they asked for my residential address, but I ended up putting my private mailbox number along with my bank statement. Now I'm worried this might cause some confusion between my mailing and residential addresses. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice on how to clear this up with EDD?

Ugh, I feel ya. EDD's forms can be so confusing sometimes! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø I had a similar issue last year. My advice? Call them ASAP and explain the situation. Better to sort it out now than have problems later.

Yeah, calling can be a pain. But I found a way to get through! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the menu, waits on hold, and then connects you when an agent picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it imo. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, for real? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Listen up, because I've been down this road before and I can help you out. Here's what you need to do: • First, don't panic. This kind of mix-up happens more often than you'd think. • Gather all your documents: lease agreement, utility bills, bank statements, anything that shows both your residential and mailing addresses. • Write a clear, concise letter explaining the situation. Be specific about which address is your residential and which is your mailing. • Make copies of everything. • Send this package to EDD via certified mail so you have proof they received it. • Follow up with a phone call about a week after you send the package. • Keep checking your online account for any updates or messages. Remember, persistence is key with EDD. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely follow these steps. Quick question - should I wait for them to contact me or should I be proactive and call them first?

Be proactive for sure! EDD can be slow to respond, so it's better to get ahead of any potential issues. Good luck!

I had this exact same problem last month! It's such a headache. I ended up having to go to my local EDD office in person to get it sorted out. Took forever but at least it's fixed now.

Wait, you can go in person? I thought all the offices were closed bc of covid

Some have reopened! Check their website for locations and hours. It's a pain but sometimes its the only way to get things done

Pro tip: always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD. I learned that the hard way 😭

THIS. I can't stress this enough. I've had them lose my paperwork twice now. CYA always!

Have you tried updating your address online through your EDD account? Sometimes that's quicker than waiting for them to process mailed forms.

I didn't even think of that! I'll check if that's an option. Thanks for the suggestion!

Guys, I'm telling you, the best way to get through to EDD is to use that claimyr.com service. I was skeptical at first, but it actually works. Saved me hours of hold time. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 tho? Seems steep just to make a phone call šŸ¤”

I thought so too, but when you consider how much time and frustration it saves, it's worth it. Plus, time is money, right?

Can confirm, used it last week and got through in like 30 mins. Beats spending all day on hold!

Anyone else feel like EDD purposely makes things confusing just to mess with us? šŸ™ƒ

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're super clear about which address is which when you talk to them. I made the mistake of assuming they'd understand and ended up with even more confusion. Be explicit!

Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to spell everything out for them. Can't be too careful I guess

I went through something similar a few months ago! The key is to act fast before it creates bigger issues down the line. What worked for me was sending a written statement via their online portal (if available) or fax explaining exactly what happened - that you accidentally provided your PO box as residential address when it should have been your actual home address. Include both addresses clearly labeled and attach copies of documents that verify your real residential address like a lease or utility bill. Also, if you have any confirmation numbers from when you submitted the original form, include those too. EDD actually deals with this kind of mix-up pretty regularly, so don't stress too much - just get ahead of it!

This is super helpful advice! I'm new to dealing with EDD and honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole process. Quick question - when you say "online portal," are you referring to the main EDD website where you log in to your account, or is there a separate form submission area? I want to make sure I'm submitting this correction in the right place. Also, did you have to wait long for them to acknowledge the correction?
