Need help with correct EDD mailing address for SDI claim paperwork
Hey everyone, I'm trying to mail my disability papers to EDD but I'm not sure about the correct address. Can someone help me out? I want to make sure I'm sending it to the right place so there are no delays with my claim. Thanks in advance!

I got you, fam! Here's the correct address for mailing your disability papers to EDD: Employment Development Department Disability Insurance P.O. Box 989777 West Sacramento, CA 95798-9777 Make sure you double-check the P.O. Box number, it's easy to mix up those 9s and 7s. Good luck with your claim! 👍

•Thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed. You're right about those numbers, I almost wrote 98977 instead of 989777. You saved me from a potential headache! 🙏

•Just a heads up, make sure you send it with tracking. EDD has been known to 'lose' mail sometimes. Better safe than sorry!

•Also want to add - if you're sending medical records or anything sensitive, consider using certified mail with signature confirmation. It's a few extra bucks but gives you peace of mind that it actually got there and who signed for it. I learned this the hard way after my doctor's notes went missing the first time around.

Ugh, dealing with EDD is such a pain. I swear they make everything complicated on purpose. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it. 🙄

•For real tho. Its like they want us to mess up so they can deny our claims. The whole systems broken af

•Come on guys, it's not that bad. Sure, there are issues, but most of the EDD staff are just trying their best with limited resources.

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken we have to pay extra just to get basic service. 😤

•I get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through. It's worth it if you really need to talk to someone. Saved me hours of frustration.

•I used it too. Felt weird paying but man, the relief of finally talking to a human was worth every penny.

Pro tip: Make copies of EVERYTHING before you send it. EDD lost my paperwork twice and I had to start over. Don't be like me, cover your bases! 📄✉️

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is down like every other day? How are we supposed to check our claim status if we can't even log in? 🤦♂️

Quick question - does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to process the paperwork once they receive it? I'm trying to plan my budget and I'm getting anxious about the wait time.

•In my experience, it took about 2-3 weeks. But I've heard it can vary a lot depending on how backed up they are.

•2-3 weeks if youre lucky. I've been waiting for 2 months now. 😭

•It really depends. My first claim took forever, but when I had to file again last year, it was surprisingly quick. Like 10 days tops.

Just want to add that if you're mailing from out of state, make sure to allow extra time for delivery. I sent mine from Nevada and it took almost a week to get there. Also, if you have any questions about what documents to include, the EDD website has a pretty detailed checklist - it's actually one of the few things on their site that's actually helpful! Hope your claim goes smoothly! 🤞

•Thanks for the heads up about out-of-state mailing! I didn't even think about that. And you're right about the checklist on their website - it's actually one of the few pages that loads consistently too 😅 Did you end up getting your claim processed without any issues after mailing from Nevada?

Just wanted to share my recent experience - I mailed my SDI paperwork to that exact address Emma provided last week and it arrived safely! I used Priority Mail with tracking (about $8) and it got there in 2 days. One thing I learned from reading through all the comments here is to definitely keep digital copies of everything on your phone or computer before mailing. Also, if you're worried about timing, you can actually drop off documents in person at some EDD offices, though you might have to wait in line. The West Sacramento address Emma shared is definitely correct - it matches what's on the official EDD website. Good luck with your claim, Leila! 🍀

•This is super helpful! I'm new to dealing with EDD and all these tips are gold. Quick question - when you say "drop off documents in person," do you know if all EDD offices accept SDI paperwork or just specific ones? I'm in the Bay Area and wondering if it's worth the drive to avoid potential mail delays. Also, did you get any kind of receipt when you dropped them off? Thanks for sharing your experience! 🙏
