EDD SDI pregnancy disability deposits delayed - Bank of America card issues?
I'm 28 weeks pregnant and on disability through SDI. My payment was supposed to be deposited onto my BoA EDD debit card yesterday but nothing's shown up yet. My EDD online account isn't showing any updates either - still says 'paid' with yesterday's date. Is anyone else having this problem? I can't tell if it's an EDD processing delay or something going on with Bank of America's system. I really need this payment for my doctor appointment tomorrow. Getting really stressed which isn't good for the baby!

There's definitely something going on with the EDD-BofA connection right now. My wife is on pregnancy disability too and her payment is 2 days late. I checked the BofA EDD cardholder website and they have a notice about 'temporary processing delays affecting some accounts' but no real details. They're saying to allow 24-48 additional hours for deposits to appear.

•Thank you for confirming! At least I know it's not just my account. Did your wife's previous payments come through on time before this?

•I had this happen twice during my pregnancy last year. It's frustrating when you're counting on that money! But don't panic yet - both times mine showed up 2-3 days late with no explanation. If it goes past 3 business days, that's when you should really start trying to contact EDD.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I SWITCHED TO DIRECT DEPOSIT TO MY PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT!!!! The BoA card system is ALWAYS having issues!!! I was on pregnancy disability last year and missed rent payments TWICE because of 'processing delays' with that stupid card. Call EDD and ask to switch to direct deposit into your regular bank account. It takes a few weeks to process the change but SO WORTH IT. The EDD-BoA partnership is absolutely TERRIBLE and has been for years.

•I didn't even know direct deposit to my own bank was an option! Definitely going to look into this. Though I need this current payment to come through ASAP for now.

My cousin works at BofA (not in the EDD department though) and she said they were doing some system updates this week that might be causing delays. She thought everything should be back to normal by Friday.

•Friday feels like forever away when you're pregnant and have bills! But thanks for the insider info. It's helpful to know there's an end in sight.

If you're really worried, try calling the BofA EDD card customer service number on the back of your card. They're usually more responsive than EDD directly. When I was on disability after my surgery, I had a similar issue and they were able to tell me exactly when the deposit would post.

•I tried calling them earlier but got stuck on hold for 35 minutes before I had to hang up. Will try again this afternoon.

I had this exact same issue with my pregnancy disability payments back in December. Turned out there was actually a problem with my certification that EDD hadn't told me about. Have you checked to make sure all your pregnancy disability paperwork is up to date? Sometimes if your doctor needs to recertify and you don't know about it, payments get held up without any clear explanation online.

•Oh no, I hadn't thought of that! My doctor just filled out a new certification form at my appointment last week, but I'm not sure if EDD has processed it yet. I wonder if that could be the issue?

One thing I'd recommend is using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative directly. When I had a similar issue with my pregnancy disability payments, I spent days trying to reach someone. Then I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd. The agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my deposit and gave me a timeframe for when it would be fixed. Saved me so much stress during pregnancy!

•Thank you! I've never heard of this service but I'll definitely check it out. The stress of not knowing what's happening is the worst part.

•Does this actually work? I spent HOURS trying to get through to EDD when I was on pregnancy disability.

•It did for me! I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for 3 days straight to get through. The EDD rep I spoke with checked my account and found there was a flag on it that needed to be cleared before my payment could process.

Quick update - my wife's payment just posted to her BofA card about 10 minutes ago. Looks like they're starting to process the backlog. You might want to check your account!

•OMG THANK YOU! Just checked and mine came through too!! What a relief. Going to look into switching to direct deposit though so this doesn't happen again.

For anyone dealing with this issue in the future, I recommend setting up a buffer in your budget if possible. Pregnancy disability payments through SDI are unfortunately prone to these kinds of delays. When I was on pregnancy disability with my second child, I made sure to keep at least one payment's worth of expenses in savings as a buffer. I know that's not possible for everyone, but it really helped reduce my stress levels when these inevitable hiccups happened.
