EDD SDI payments stopped after submitting new medical info - How to get them restarted?
I haven't gotten any payments for over 3 weeks now. My last payment was at the beginning of the month. I sent in new medical info from my doctor extending my disability, but still nothing. The EDD got it like 2 weeks ago. I can't go back to work yet cuz I'm not fully healed. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get my payments going again?

PSA: Always always ALWAYS appeal if they deny you. I won my appeal and got backpay for 3 months!

That's encouraging to hear! Appeals can definitely be a powerful tool, though they require patience.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.

This is a great suggestion. Assembly members have been known to help expedite claims. It's worth a shot.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they post updates there that explain whats going on with your claim.

The online account has been a lifesaver for me a couple of times. It's worth checking. Sometimes they have the very info you need.

It does make you wonder about the coincidence of it all. Maybe a communication update schedule would help.

This whole system needs a serious overhaul. Too many people are left in limbo when they need help the most.

Claimyr offers a valuable service for those struggling to get through to EDD. While their $20 fee might seem steep, many have found it worthwhile for the time and stress it saves. However, itβs essential to remember that not everyone may be in a position to afford this service, and it's unfortunate that such a service is needed in the first place. Ideally, services like EDD should be accessible without third-party intervention. For those who canβt utilize Claimyr, consider alternative methods such as reaching out to a local assembly member, checking your online account frequently for updates, and ensuring all documentation is thoroughly prepared and submitted. Using a structured approach when contacting EDD, as mentioned by another community member, can also be highly effective. In the end, persistence and patience, although difficult, often result in resolution. Keep advocating for improvement in these systems while seeking out every resource available to you.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: medical info, claim details, and any EDD letters. 2. Write down important dates: last payment, when you sent new info, and your new disability end date. 3. When you call (use that claimyr thing if you have to), be clear and concise: - Explain you haven't been paid since [date] - Tell them when you sent new medical info - Ask why payments stopped and when you can expect the next one 4. If they say they need more info, ask exactly what and how to send it 5. Get the name of who you talked to and a reference number for the call 6. If they don't resolve it, ask to speak to a supervisor Don't give up! Keep pushing until you get your money. Good luck! πͺ

While budget adjustments can slow things down, it doesn't excuse the lack of communication and transparency from EDD.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ
