EDD SDI claim documents: Weeks of silence after submission - normal wait time?
Has anyone else been waiting forever to hear back about their claim documents? I sent in all the paperwork they asked for weeks ago, and I still haven't heard anything. I'm starting to get worried that they didn't receive it or something got lost in the shuffle. Anyone know how long it usually takes for them to confirm they got everything? This waiting game is driving me crazy!

•I tried that last month. They just gave me a number to call... the same one that never answers 🤡

Pro tip: If you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right when they open. I've had better luck that way.

•What time do they open? I'll try anything at this point!

•They open at 8 AM Pacific Time. Set your alarm and be ready to dial!

I feel ya, buddy. I've been in the same boat for over a month now. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our documents or something. 🙄

It took them 6 weeks to confirm they received my docs. The system is broken af.

•This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's a joke.

I heard a rumor that they're updating their system soon. Anyone know if thats true or just wishful thinking?

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all paperwork you send. 2. Follow up regularly. Don't assume they're processing your claim. 3. Be persistent with calls. Yes, it sucks, but sometimes it's the only way. 4. Use their online portal if possible. It's slightly more reliable than snail mail. 5. Reach out to your local representative. They can sometimes expedite things. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums for your state's unemployment. Other people's experiences can be helpful. 7. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but keep at it. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but that doesn't make it okay. Keep fighting for what you're owed!

•Adding to this: if you fax documents, keep the confirmation page. It's saved my butt before.

Anyone else feel like they're stuck in a Kafka novel trying to deal with EDD? It's absurd.

Pro tip: Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. I learned that the hard way when they "lost" my docs. 🤦♂️

•Absolutely. You can even use apps to scan your documents to PDF and store them securely online.

I swear they're using a potato for a computer system. How hard is it to confirm receipt of documents in 2023? 🤔

•The technology is there, but I guess bureaucracy doesn't move fast enough to incorporate it.

Unpopular opinion: maybe if everyone stopped filing for unemployment, we wouldn't have these issues. Just sayin' 🤷♂️

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be proactive and chase them down.

•Yeah, I've tried calling but its impossible to get through. I've been on hold for hours and then get disconnected. Its so frustrating!

•Calling is a joke. You'd have better luck winning the lottery than getting through to a real person there.

•I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

It's understandable how frustrating this waiting process can be. You've already taken important initial steps by submitting your documentation, but continued delays can indeed be unnerving. Unfortunately, the processing time for claims varies greatly based on factors like the volume of claims being handled and the efficiency of the specific department. Generally, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. For those who are struggling to get through via phone, utilizing services like Claimyr can be beneficial. While it's a paid service, many users report successful connections with live agents, which can save time and reduce stress. That said, it's important to weigh the cost against other potential solutions, such as visiting in person if feasible, or enlisting help from local representatives. Always ensure that you have copies of all correspondence and documentation sent. This not only provides a safety net in case something gets lost but can also facilitate faster resolution should any disputes arise. Additionally, exploring online communities or forums for support can offer valuable insights and advice during this challenging wait.
