EDD Overpayment Adjustment: No Response, No Deadlines. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an overpayment issue and I'm not sure what to do. I previously requested an adjustment for the offset amount, but I haven't heard anything back. There don't seem to be any specific deadlines, but I'm getting anxious. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to follow up or what to say when I finally get through to someone?

Ugh, overpayments are the worst! 😫 I've been there, and it's such a headache. Have you tried calling them? It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were actually pretty helpful.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but no luck so far. It's so frustrating! How long did it take you to finally get through?

It took me like a week of constant calling. I swear I could recite their hold music in my sleep by the end of it 😅 But don't give up!

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can confirm, I used it last week and got through in like an hour. Beats days of trying on my own!

When you do get through, make sure you have all your paperwork ready. They'll probably ask for specific dates and amounts. Also, be super nice to the person on the phone - they deal with angry people all day and being friendly can go a long way!

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. It's worth a shot if you're stuck!

I hadn't thought of that! How do I find out who my local rep is?

Just google '[your city] state representative' and it should come up. Most have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!

Okay, so here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents related to the overpayment. This includes any letters from EDD, your original claim info, and proof of income. 2. Write down a clear timeline of events. When did you first claim? When did you receive the overpayment notice? When did you request the adjustment? 3. Calculate exactly how much you think you owe vs. what they say you owe. Be prepared to explain any discrepancies. 4. When you call (and yes, you'll need to keep calling), ask for a 'tier 2' specialist. They have more authority to make adjustments. 5. If calling doesn't work, try sending a written appeal. Send it certified mail so you have proof they received it. 6. As a last resort, contact your local state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues. Remember, stay calm and persistent. The system is frustrating, but there are people who can help. Don't give up!
