EDD Overpayment Offset Adjustment Request - No Response After 3 Months

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I requested an adjustment for my overpayment offset amount back in August, but I haven't heard anything back yet. It's been a few months now, and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else gone through this process? How long did it take for you to get a response? I'm thinking about calling them to check on the status, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any advice would be appreciated!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it complicated on purpose.

Totally agree. We need to push for reform. This isn't working for anyone except the bureaucrats.

Pro tip: Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. Letters, emails, faxes, whatever. It'll save your butt if they claim they never got your request.

That's a good idea. I didn't keep a copy of my request. Guess I'll have to be more careful next time.

100% this! I learned the hard way. Now I scan everything and keep it in a folder on my computer. Better safe than sorry! 💯

Ugh, dealing with overpayment issues is THE WORST. I've been there, buddy. It took them like 3 months to get back to me when I requested an adjustment. Hang in there! 😩

3 months?! That's crazy. Did you have to do anything to follow up, or did they just eventually contact you?

Nah, I just waited it out. But if I could do it again, I'd probably call after a month or so. Can't hurt to check, right?

3 months is actually pretty fast from what I've heard. Some people wait 6 months or more! 😱

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken. 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds crazy, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. Check out the reviews online. It's not perfect, but it beats calling 100 times a day and never getting through.

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you initially requested the adjustment? Might be worth checking your spam folder if you haven't already.

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a faster response. Worth a shot! 🤷‍♂️

This actually worked for me once! I tweeted at them and got a DM with next steps within a day. Social media team ftw!

I went thru something similar last year. Ended up having to file an appeal before they finally adjusted my overpayment. It was a nightmare but it eventually got sorted. Dont give up!

Oh man, I hope it doesn't come to that. How long did the whole process take for you?

All in all, it took about 5 months. But once I filed the appeal, things moved quicker. Took about 3 weeks after that.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call them ASAP. Don't wait for them to contact you. 2. When you call, have your claim number and the date you submitted the request ready. 3. Be polite but firm. Ask for a specific timeline on when you can expect a decision. 4. If they can't give you a clear answer, ask to speak with a supervisor. 5. Keep a log of every call you make - date, time, who you spoke to, and what was said. 6. If you still don't get anywhere after a couple of calls, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along. 7. As a last resort, you might want to consider filing a formal appeal if they're taking too long. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them forget about your case. Good luck!
