UI Overpayment Follow-up: What to Expect When Calling?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an overpayment issue from unemployment insurance and I need to follow up on it. Has anyone gone through this process before? What should I expect when I call them? I'm a bit nervous about how this might affect my finances.

Ugh, overpayments are the worst! I had to deal with one last year. When you call, make sure you have all your paperwork ready - they'll ask for dates, amounts, and probably your claim number. Be prepared to wait on hold for a looong time tho š

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call?

Yeah, so you choose the dept you need to reach, pay, and they start calling right away. When an agent picks up, they forward the call to you. Usually takes 1-2 hours but beats doing it yourself!

Listen up, cause I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to know about dealing with UI overpayments: ā¢ First, don't panic. It's more common than you think. ā¢ Get all your docs in order - paystubs, claim forms, any correspondence from UI. ā¢ If you disagree with the overpayment, you can appeal. There's usually a deadline, so act fast. ā¢ They might offer a payment plan if you can't pay it all at once. ā¢ In some cases, you can request a waiver if repayment would cause financial hardship. ā¢ DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every conversation. ā¢ Be polite but firm with the reps. Remember, they're just doing their job. ā¢ If you're not getting anywhere, consider contacting your local rep or ombudsman. Stay strong, OP. You'll get through this!

It's usually cuz of reporting errors or changes in eligibility. But yeah, it sucks when it happens

Hey OP, just went thru this last month. Make sure you ask about the 'good cause' provision if the overpayment wasn't your fault. Saved me a ton of headache!

Unpopular opinion: maybe double check your eligibility before applying next time? Just saying... š¤·āāļø
