This happens way too often. It's like they're playing games with our money. I had to fight for weeks to get paid for days covered by my doctor's note. Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep calling every day. It sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Send a message through your online account explaining the situation in detail. 3. Contact your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 4. If all else fails, file an appeal. It takes time, but it's your right. Remember, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every message, every piece of paper. Good luck!
I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My doctor's note covered me through the 12th, but EDD only paid me through the 10th. It's so frustrating because I know the documentation is clear and was submitted properly. I've been trying to get through on the phone for days with no luck. Has anyone found that sending duplicate copies through different methods (online, fax, and mail) actually helps speed up the process? I'm worried about overwhelming them with paperwork, but at this point I'm desperate to get this resolved.
I'm in the exact same boat! My doctor's note went through the 8th but they only paid me through the 6th. From what I've read in other threads, sending through multiple channels actually does help - it shows you're serious about getting it resolved and creates a paper trail. I'd say go for it, especially with certified mail so you have proof of delivery. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD unfortunately. Have you tried reaching out on social media too? I've seen some people get faster responses that way.
Hey OP, hang in there! I know it feels hopeless, but keep pushing. Document everything, take screenshots, and don't give up. You've got this! 💪
I went through this nightmare last year! What finally worked for me was contacting ID.me support first to get them to completely delete the duplicate account (not just deactivate it), then waiting 48-72 hours before trying to register with EDD again. The key is making sure ID.me purges all traces of the duplicate from their system. Also, make sure you're using the exact same name format across all your documents - even small differences like "Michael" vs "Mike" can cause matching issues. It took about a week total, but it eventually went through!
This is super helpful, thank you! I think I may have just deactivated the duplicate account instead of fully deleting it. I'll reach out to ID.me support to make sure it's completely purged from their system. The name formatting tip is gold too - I bet that's part of my issue since I have different variations across my documents. Really appreciate you sharing what worked for you! 🙏
Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get through to EDD? If you're still having trouble, definitely consider that Claimyr service I mentioned. When I finally spoke with an agent, it turned out my employer had submitted conflicting information about my last day worked, which created a flag on my claim that wasn't visible to me. The agent fixed it immediately once I explained the situation.
I ended up using Claimyr this morning and finally got through! You were right - there was a flag on my account that wasn't showing up online. Apparently they needed additional verification of my identity because my current address didn't match what my employer had on file (I moved recently). The agent cleared it right away and said my payments should process within 3-5 business days. Such a relief! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Congratulations on getting through! This is exactly why I always recommend people try multiple approaches when dealing with EDD. Your situation is a perfect example of how these "invisible" flags can keep claims stuck indefinitely. The address mismatch issue is super common - EDD's system is very strict about verifying identity, especially after all the fraud issues they had during the pandemic. For anyone else reading this, make sure to update your address with both EDD AND your employer if you've moved recently, as mismatched information between these sources is one of the most frequent causes of claim delays. Glad you got it sorted out and thanks for updating us!
This whole thread has been so helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my claim has been pending for 4 weeks and I had no idea about these invisible flags or address mismatches. Reading through everyone's experiences makes me feel less alone in this frustrating process. I'm going to try calling with that specific "filed a claim but haven't received payment" option that @Rudy Cenizo mentioned, and if that doesn t'work I ll'look into Claimyr too. It s'crazy that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get basic information about our own claims, but at least now I have a game plan. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and solutions!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. The wait times are usually shorter then.

I went through this exact same process about 6 months ago! One thing that really helped me was having my doctor's office fax the extension paperwork directly to EDD while I was on the phone with them. That way they could confirm they received it right away and there was no delay in processing. Also, don't forget to ask about whether your extension affects your return-to-work date for job protection purposes - that caught me off guard! The whole process took about 10 days for me once I got through to someone. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy! 🤞

•That's such smart advice about having the doctor's office fax while you're on the phone! I never would have thought of that but it makes perfect sense to get immediate confirmation. And thanks for mentioning the job protection aspect - that's definitely something I need to ask about since I hadn't considered how the extension might affect that timeline. 10 days sounds pretty reasonable too. Really appreciate you sharing your experience! 💕
