Has anyone heard about a surprise $47 CalWORKs payment coming tomorrow?
Just saw someone post about a one-time $47 Cash Aid payment that's supposedly hitting accounts tomorrow. Anyone else hear about this or know what it's for? My worker hasn't mentioned anything and I'm wondering if it's legit or if people are getting confused with something else. Would really help with diapers right now if it's true!

•Actually my worker told me it's legit! It's a one-time Child Poverty Supplemental Payment that was approved in the January 2025 state budget amendment. The amount varies based on your family size - $47 for families with 1-2 kids, $52 for 3-4 kids, and $61 for 5+ kids. Not all counties are rolling it out on the same day though, and they're doing it in waves so not everyone gets notified at once. It should show up in your regular EBT account.

It's a real payment, but there's been some confusion about it. This is the California Child Poverty Reduction Supplement that was approved in the January 2025 budget amendment. The payment is a one-time supplement for families with children on CalWORKs. The amount is based on your household size, not a flat $47 for everyone. Most counties are distributing it this week, but not all at once. You should see it appear on your EBT card with your regular Cash Aid. The county is supposed to send notifications, but as usual, their communication isn't consistent. If you want to confirm your specific amount, check your BenefitsCal account - it should show as a separate line item under upcoming payments.

•Thank you SO MUCH for explaining! I just checked my BenefitsCal and you're right - there is a separate payment listed as "CPRS Payment" that wasn't there yesterday. Mine is $47. Really appreciate the info!

•Different counties are processing on different days. LA County is doing a staggered release by case number - last digits 00-33 today, 34-66 tomorrow, and 67-99 on Friday. It's to prevent their system from crashing with everyone checking at once.

Im confused!! Is this CalWORKs or CalFresh?? I get food stamps but not cash aid will I still get the $47??

•This is specifically for CalWORKs (Cash Aid), not CalFresh (food stamps). You need to be receiving Cash Aid with children in your household to qualify for this supplemental payment. If you only receive CalFresh, you won't get this particular payment.

I tried calling my county office to ask about this but been on hold for 45 minutes!! So frustrating I just want to know if my family qualifies and exactly when we'll get it. My worker NEVER answers emails either. 😡

•Try using Claimyr! I was in the same situation last month and it was a lifesaver. It holds your place in the phone queue and calls you back when a real person is actually available. Saved me hours of hold time. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE. I got through to my worker in about 30 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hour wait or getting disconnected. Way better than sitting on hold all day.

For anyone still confused about this payment: 1. It's officially called the Child Poverty Reduction Supplement (CPRS) 2. One-time payment for CalWORKs households with children 3. Payment amounts: $47 (1-2 children), $52 (3-4 children), or $61 (5+ children) 4. Distribution dates vary by county and sometimes by case number 5. It will appear on your EBT card with your regular Cash Aid 6. You should receive a notification, but many aren't going out 7. You can check BenefitsCal for the payment (listed as "CPRS Payment") 8. This is separate from your regular monthly benefit Hope this helps clear things up!

•This is SO helpful - thank you! I wish the county would explain things this clearly instead of leaving us all confused and having to figure it out on our own!

•Just checked and mine is there too! $47 exactly like they said. Such a nice surprise even if it's not a huge amount. Every bit helps with these kids growing out of clothes every month! 😅
