Need help scheduling driving test hearing at Porterville DMV - no dates given, what to ask?
Hey everyone, I need to schedule a hearing for my driving test at the Porterville DMV. I haven't received any communication from them about available dates. What should I do when I call? Any tips on how to handle this?

When you call, make sure you have your driver's license number ready. Ask them for available dates and times specifically for the Porterville DMV. They might ask you some questions about why you need a hearing, so be prepared to explain your situation briefly.

•Good advice! I'd also suggest writing down any questions you have before the call. It's easy to forget stuff when you're on the spot.

•Yep, and dont forget to ask about any documents you might need to bring to the hearing. Better to be overprepared than underprepared, ya know?

Ugh, calling the DMV is THE WORST. I swear, I spent like 3 hours on hold last time I tried to reach them. Good luck, OP! 🍀

•For real tho. Its like they purposely make it difficult to talk to a human 🙄

•I found a way to skip the hold times! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration.

I had to do this last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call first thing in the morning when they open 2. Have all your info ready (license number, reason for hearing, etc.) 3. Be polite but firm if they try to brush you off 4. Ask if there's a cancellation list you can be put on for earlier dates 5. If possible, be flexible with your availability Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

•Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling early. Did you have to wait long for a hearing date?

•It took about 3 weeks to get a date, but I got lucky with a cancellation. Your mileage may vary, especially with COVID backlogs.

•To be fair, they've improved some services online. But yeah, still a long way to go.

Quick question - are you scheduling this hearing because you failed the test or is it for another reason? The process might be different depending on your situation.

•I actually passed the test, but there was an issue with my documentation. They said I needed to schedule a hearing to sort it out.

•Ah, gotcha. In that case, make sure you bring ALL the documentation they might possibly need. Better safe than sorry!

Pro tip: if you cant get through on the main line, try calling a different DMV office and ask them to transfer you. Sometimes works like a charm 😉

•Have you tried going in person? Sometimes its faster than dealing with the phone nightmare.
