PSLF approved but processing delayed - stuck at job I want to leave. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) situation. My payments are complete and approved, but the processing is taking forever. January should've been my last payment, but here we are months later. The worst part? I'm stuck at a job I want to leave because of this delay. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to handle it?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there. Have you tried requesting a forbearance? Since your PSLF is approved, you should be able to get one while they finish processing. It might help ease some of the stress.

ā¢Yeah, I actually just got my PSLF reconsideration approved! They told me I can request forbearance now. Just waiting on the processing to finish up. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long š¤

ā¢Congrats on the approval! That's a huge step. Make sure to follow up regularly tho, these things can fall through the cracks if you don't stay on top of them.

The PSLF program is such a mess. I swear they make it complicated on purpose š Hang in there, OP. You're in the home stretch!

I found a method to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/kfgsWnbb8cU

ā¢Sounds interesting. How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

ā¢It took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through myself, it was worth it. Saved me a ton of time and frustration.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: ⢠First, gather all your approval documents. Every. Single. One. ⢠Call MOHELA and request forbearance. Be polite but firm. ⢠Mention your PSLF approval and the processing delay. ⢠Ask for a specific timeline for completion. ⢠Get the name of who you spoke to and a reference number. ⢠Follow up weekly via phone or email. ⢠If no progress after a month, escalate to a supervisor. ⢠Consider reaching out to your congressperson if it drags on. Remember, you're not asking for a favor. This is your right. Don't let them give you the runaround. Stay persistent!

I feel your pain, OP. I've been stuck in PSLF limbo for 6 months now. It's like they're playing hot potato with our futures š„š„

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. You never know when you'll need to prove something later. MOHELA's record keeping can be... let's say 'creative' sometimes š

Unpopular opinion: maybe just be patient? The system is overwhelmed rn with all the changes. Yelling at customer service reps won't make it go faster.

I totally get the frustration of being stuck at a job you want to leave! Have you considered reaching out to your HR department about your situation? Sometimes they can work with you on timing, especially if you explain that you're waiting on federal loan processing. Also, the Student Aid Ombudsman might be able to help expedite things if MOHELA keeps dragging their feet. Worth a shot if the standard channels aren't working fast enough!
