MOHELA IDR recertification paused, payment skyrocketed - need administrative forbearance ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my student loan servicer. My IDR recertification is on hold, and my payment has skyrocketed! I was told a couple weeks back that they put it in administrative forbearance, but my account doesn't show that at all. Now I've got this massive payment due soon and I'm freaking out. Anyone else dealing with this mess? I'm thinking of calling them to get this sorted out and put my loan in administrative forbearance because of their disorganization. Any advice on how to handle this call?

Ugh, I feel your pain! These servicers are a nightmare to deal with. Here's what I'd suggest: • Gather all your docs showing their screw-ups • Call and calmly explain how their mistakes are affecting you • Specifically request administrative forbearance • Get the name of who you talk to and a reference number • Follow up with an email summarizing the call Stay strong and don't let them push you around! 💪

•This is solid advice! I'd add: record the call if your state allows it. It's saved my butt before when they 'forgot' what they promised 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it's worth it to avoid hours on hold. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/kfgsWnbb8cU

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•It's legit! You pick the number you want to call, pay, and they start calling. When an agent answers, they forward the call to your phone. Saved me hours of hold time.

•Not a scam at all. I've used it multiple times. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to connect the call. It's just a time-saver.

Have you tried reaching out to your congressperson? Sometimes they can light a fire under these servicers' butts and get things moving.

Have you checked if you qualify for PSLF? Might be worth looking into if you work in public service or for a non-profit. Could potentially wipe out your loans after 10 years of payments.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not in public service, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever switch careers.
