Need DETAILED MOHELA payment summary since 2020 (FedLoan transfer) for NHSC - online info not enough! Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I need to get a super detailed payment summary for my student loans since 2020. My loans were transferred from Fedloan to MOHELA during this time, and I need this info for NHSC reasons. The stuff available online just isn't cutting it. I've been on hold forever trying to get through to someone. Any advice on how to get this detailed info or reach a human at MOHELA?

Ugh, MOHELA is the worst! I've been dealing with them for months now. Have you tried their online chat? Sometimes it's faster than calling.

•Yeah, I tried the chat but they couldn't help me get the detailed summary I need. Seems like I really need to talk to a human 😩

•Online chat is useless for anything beyond basic questions. They always end up telling you to call anyway 🙄

I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. What worked for me was calling right when they open in the morning. Still had to wait, but not as long as midday.

Have you tried requesting your records through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)? It might take longer, but you'll get EVERYTHING.

•Wow, I didn't even think about FOIA. How long did it take when you did it?

•It took about 3 weeks for me, but I've heard it can take up to a couple months. Depends on how backed up they are.

•FOIA is a good idea, but make sure you're specific in your request. Otherwise, you might get a ton of irrelevant info to sift through.

Pro tip: I found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless hold times. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/kfgsWnbb8cU

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just an ad?

•I get the skepticism, but I swear it's legit. Used it twice now for different calls. Saved my sanity lol

•Just tried it. Can confirm it works! Got through to MOHELA in like 30 minutes without having to listen to that awful hold music 🙌

Here's what you need to do to get that detailed payment summary: 1. Call MOHELA early in the morning, like 5 minutes after they open. 2. When you get through, ask specifically for a "comprehensive payment history report" from 2020 to present. 3. Emphasize that you need it for NHSC purposes and the online summary is insufficient. 4. If the first rep can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor or the special handling department. 5. Be prepared to verify your identity with multiple pieces of info. 6. Ask them to email you the report if possible, or have them mail a hard copy. 7. Follow up with an email to create a paper trail of your request. If all else fails, submit a written request via certified mail. Include your loan account number, social security number (last 4 digits), and specify exactly what you need and why. Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'll definitely try this approach tomorrow morning.

•Great advice! I'd add: keep a log of every call, including date, time, and name of who you spoke with. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get OUR OWN payment information? The whole student loan system is a joke 🤡

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they purposely make it difficult so we'll give up and not question anything.

•Totally agree. We need serious reform in how these loan servicers operate. It's a nightmare for everyone involved.

Have you tried reaching out to your congressperson's office? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape with federal agencies.
