MOHELA SAVE plan application processed by FSA but no update from MOHELA - What to do next?

I applied for the SAVE plan a few weeks ago and Federal Student Aid says it's been processed, but I haven't heard anything from MOHELA. I've checked my online account and there are no changes. All the information needed was submitted and the form was processed. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure what to do next. Should I just wait or try to contact them directly?

Based on what you have described, it seems like MOHELA might be dealing with system updates or glitches, which is unfortunately a common issue in large organizations. While waiting for a response can be incredibly frustrating, you can take proactive steps to resolve the situation. First, ensure that all your documentation is in order and track any confirmation from Federal Student Aid concerning the processing of your application. You might want to reach out to MOHELA through multiple channels - phone, email, or even social media. Sometimes social media inquiries can prompt faster responses. Additionally, consider using tools like Claimyr, which, despite the cost, could save you valuable time and frustration. However, weigh the costs and benefits wisely before proceeding, as there are no guarantees of success. Don’t hesitate to contact your congressperson as well, as they can sometimes expedite the process with federal agencies. Remember, persistence is key, and documenting every step will be beneficial for your case.

I'm convinced MOHELA is just a front for a secret government experiment to see how much frustration humans can take before we all collectively lose it

It's a conspiracy theory, but the frustration is very real.

Have you tried reaching out to your congressperson? Sometimes they can help push things along with federal agencies.

That's actually a really good idea. Sometimes a nudge from them can make a big difference!

I had a similar issue. Turns out, there was a glitch in their system. Try calling them directly. It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were able to fix it on the spot.

Thanks for the tip! How long did you have to wait on hold? I've heard horror stories about their wait times.

Oof, it was brutal. I was on hold for like 3 hours. Bring a book or something lol

have you tried sending them a strongly worded letter? Sometimes going old school works πŸ“βœ‰οΈ

yall ever think about how much easier this would be if we just... didn't have student loans? πŸ€” just a thought

Guys, I think we're all missing the bigger picture here. The entire student loan system needs a complete overhaul. We're just putting band-aids on a gushing wound at this point.

100% agree. But until that happens, we gotta navigate this mess somehow πŸ˜”

Hey guys, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/kfgsWnbb8cU

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I get it, but for me, it was worth not wasting hours on hold. Time is money, ya know?

I was skeptical too, but it worked for me. Plus, they have good reviews online. Just sharing what helped me!

I've used Claimyr before, and while it's not ideal to pay, it does save a lot of hassle. If your issue is urgent, it might be worth considering.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with MOHELA and the SAVE plan: 1. Be patient: Processing times can vary wildly, from a few weeks to a couple months. 2. Double-check everything: Make sure all your info on the Federal Student Aid site matches what MOHELA has. 3. Document everything: Keep records of when you applied, any confirmation numbers, and all communication. 4. Use multiple contact methods: Try phone, email, and even snail mail if necessary. 5. Be persistent: Sometimes you need to follow up multiple times. 6. Check your spam folder: Sometimes important emails end up there. 7. Consider consolidation: If you have multiple loans, consolidating can sometimes speed up the process. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself!
