FAFSA Refund MIA: Applied but No Money in Account. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my FAFSA refund. I applied and was supposed to get some money back, but it's been a while and I still haven't seen anything in my account. I checked with my bank and there are no pending transactions. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, FAFSA refunds can be such a pain! I had a similar issue last semester. Have you tried contacting your school's financial aid office? They might be able to give you more info on the status of your refund.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try. Did you eventually get your refund?

•Yeah, I did! It took about 3 weeks after I talked to the financial aid office. They had to fix some glitch on their end. Hang in there!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone about this. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•It does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate after waiting on hold for hours. It saved me so much time.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so messed up 😤

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting hours trying to get through.

Have you checked the FAFSA website for any updates? Sometimes they post notices about delays or system issues there. Also, double-check that all your info is correct on the application. A small typo can hold things up.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government bureaucracy 🤡 I've been waiting on my refund for 2 months now. It's like they're using carrier pigeons to process these things

•Carrier pigeons would probably be faster tbh 😂

Here's what I've learned from dealing with FAFSA refunds: 1. Be patient. It can take 2-8 weeks for refunds to process. 2. Check your school's disbursement schedule. Some only process refunds on certain dates. 3. Make sure your bank info is correct in the system. 4. If it's been more than 8 weeks, definitely contact your school's financial aid office. 5. Keep all emails and documentation related to your FAFSA application. 6. Sometimes, calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center (1-800-4-FED-AID) can help. 7. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint through the FSA Feedback System. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. We're all in the same boat with this stuff.

•This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit. So many people have this issue!

Have you tried turning it off and on again? 😜 jk jk but seriously, sometimes logging out and back into your FAFSA account can refresh things. Worth a shot!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had to take out extra loans last semester because my refund was so delayed. It's ridiculous how slow the system is. Hopefully you get your money soon!

•That sucks! Did you ever get reimbursed for the interest on those extra loans?

•Nope 🙃 Just chalked it up as another 'learning experience' in the grand scam that is higher education

PSA: Always save copies of your FAFSA confirmation emails and screenshots of your submitted application. You never know when you'll need proof!

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue and it turned out there was a hold on my account because I hadn't submitted my vaccination records to the school. Might be worth checking if there are any random administrative holds?

•Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the tip!
