Need help fixing 3 weeks of UI claims marked as no payment by mistake - EDD

Hey everyone, I messed up big time. I accidentally marked three weeks as no payment when I was filing my unemployment claims. I was multitasking and just glanced at the questions, making assumptions without really reading carefully. Now I need to fix those weeks and change them to payment weeks. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice on how to correct multiple weeks of claims?

Ugh, been there done that. The UI system is so confusing sometimes! Have you tried calling the unemployment office? They should be able to help you correct those weeks.

I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through that way.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/8Z3gABfzI50

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. They just called me when an agent was ready.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Log into your unemployment account online 2. Look for an option to 'Correct a Claim' or 'Request Backdate' 3. Select the weeks you need to change 4. Provide a brief explanation of why you're making the change 5. Submit the request If you can't find these options, you'll need to speak with a claims specialist. Be prepared to wait on hold for a while or try calling right when they open. Remember, honesty is the best policy here. Explain that you made an honest mistake due to multitasking and misunderstanding the questions. They deal with this kind of thing all the time. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I had to do something similar last year and it worked out fine.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

I hadn't thought of that. How would I go about contacting them?

Just google your state and 'find my representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

Quick question - how long ago did you file these incorrect claims? There might be a time limit on how far back you can make corrections.

It was about a month ago. I hope that's not too long!

You should be fine. I think the limit is usually around 3 months, but don't quote me on that. Best to get it sorted ASAP tho!
