Can I delete or fix a PA UC weekly claim with incorrect work hours?
So I messed up my last weekly certification for PA unemployment and I'm freaking out. I reported that I worked more hours than I actually did (system says I 'claimed too much'). The truth is I only worked 10 hours out of my normal 40-hour schedule last week, but I think I entered something wrong. Now it's preventing me from filing this week's claim! Is there any way to delete or correct an already submitted weekly claim? I've been trying to call the UC service center non-stop but it's always busy or disconnects me. Has anyone successfully fixed a mistake like this? Will they make me pay back money I didn't even receive?

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of. I've called like 50 times today and can't get through. Will they penalize me for this mistake?

Unfortunately, there's no way to delete or edit a claim once it's been submitted in the PA UC system. You'll need to speak with a representative to explain the situation and have them correct it. They can adjust your reported hours, but only if you contact them directly. The system doesn't allow for self-correction of submitted certifications to prevent fraud. Since you reported MORE hours than you actually worked, they'll likely be understanding since you weren't trying to get extra benefits.

•Thank you for explaining! Do you know if this will affect my benefit payments moving forward? I really need this week's payment and I'm worried this mistake will hold everything up.

I did almost the EXACT same thing last year!!! Reported 22 hours when I only worked 12. I was so mad at myself. Took me FOREVER to get through to someone. When I finally did they fixed it pretty quick but I had to wait almost 3 weeks for that payment to come through. The system is such a mess.

•3 weeks?? I can't wait that long! Did they at least let you file for your next week while waiting for the correction?

Yeah they let me keep filing weekly while they fixed the one with the mistake. Just make sure you report everything correctly going forward! And keep trying to call - early morning right when they open worked for me.

Have you tried using Claimyr? It helped me get through to a PA UC agent when I had a similar issue with incorrectly reported hours. You can check out how it works at claimyr.com or watch their demo at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It basically keeps dialing for you until it gets through, then calls you back when it connects with an agent. I was skeptical at first but it worked for me when I couldn't get through for days. The agent was able to fix my certification error in about 5 minutes once I explained what happened.

•I've never heard of this before but I'm desperate at this point. Has anyone else used this service successfully? I just need to talk to an actual person!

To directly answer your questions: 1. You cannot delete a weekly claim once submitted 2. You must speak with a UC representative to correct reporting errors 3. Yes, reporting too many hours can block your next claim if the system thinks you earned above your partial benefit threshold 4. This type of honest mistake won't result in penalties as long as you report it promptly 5. Continue attempting to file your current week's claim - the system may allow you to proceed while the correction is pending For mistakes like this, document everything: when you call, who you speak with, and get a ticket/reference number for the correction request. Keep all pay stubs showing your actual hours worked as you may need to provide verification.

•Thank you so much for the detailed info! This is really helpful. I'll keep trying to get through and make sure I have my pay stubs ready.

This happened to my husband last winter and it was SUCH a nightmare!!! He put in 28 hours instead of 18 by accident and it locked up his whole claim. We tried calling for TWO WEEKS. Every single day. I think the PA UC system is deliberately designed to make us give up. They don't have enough staff and they don't care that people are suffering. We ended up getting behind on our mortgage because of their incompetence.

•While the system is certainly frustrating, they do eventually resolve these issues. For fastest service, try calling at 7:55am (5 minutes before they open), as the queue starts forming then but many people don't realize it.

Update: I FINALLY got through to someone! For anyone with a similar problem - I called right at 7:55am like someone suggested here and only had to wait about 30 minutes. The rep was actually super nice and understanding. She said these mistakes happen all the time. They're correcting my hours from last week and releasing my payment. She also unlocked my account so I could file this week's claim immediately while I was on the phone. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! Just a tip for the future - always double-check your hours and earnings before submitting weekly claims. Taking an extra 30 seconds to review can save weeks of headaches. Also, keep a personal log of all your work hours separately from your employer's records. This makes it easier to accurately report and can help if there are ever disputes about your work history.

•Definitely learned my lesson about double-checking! I'm going to start keeping track in a notebook just to be safe. Thanks again for all your help!

I just went through something similar a few months ago! Made the same mistake of reporting too many hours and panicked when I couldn't file my next claim. The key is persistence with calling - I know it's frustrating but they really do need to fix it manually. One thing that helped me was writing down exactly what happened before I called, including the correct hours vs what I accidentally reported. When I finally got through, having all that info ready made the call go much smoother. The rep appreciated that I was organized and honest about the mistake. Hang in there - these honest reporting errors are more common than you think and they're usually pretty understanding about fixing them!

•That's really great advice about writing everything down beforehand! I wish I had thought of that - I was so flustered when I finally got through that I almost forgot some of the details. It's reassuring to know this happens to other people too and that the reps are generally understanding about honest mistakes. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm dealing with a similar issue right now where I accidentally reported the wrong earnings amount (not hours, but close enough). Reading through this thread has been so helpful, especially seeing that Leila got it resolved! I've been calling every day for a week with no luck getting through. Going to try the 7:55am trick tomorrow morning. It's such a relief to know that these kinds of honest mistakes don't result in penalties and that the reps are usually understanding. The PA UC system definitely needs better ways to handle corrections, but at least there's hope for getting it fixed. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

•Good luck with the 7:55am call tomorrow! That timing really does seem to work based on what everyone's saying here. For earnings mistakes, they should be able to fix it just as easily as the hours issue. Just make sure you have your pay stub or whatever documentation shows the correct amount ready when you call. The waiting and stress is the worst part, but once you get through it sounds like they resolve these pretty quickly. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Just want to echo what others have said about the 7:55am calling strategy - it really works! I had a similar issue last fall where I accidentally reported gross earnings instead of net on my weekly claim. Took me about 8 days of calling to finally get through, but once I did the rep fixed it in literally 5 minutes. The most frustrating part is just the waiting and not knowing if your benefits are going to be delayed. One thing I learned is to screenshot your weekly certification before submitting it, just in case you need to reference exactly what you reported when you call. Also, if anyone is still struggling to get through, try calling during your lunch break around 12-1pm - sometimes the hold times are shorter then because fewer people are calling during work hours. The system definitely isn't user-friendly but the actual staff are pretty helpful once you reach them!

•This is such valuable advice about screenshotting before submitting! I never thought of that but it makes total sense to have a record of exactly what you reported. The lunch break calling tip is interesting too - I've been trying in the mornings but maybe I should mix up the timing. It's so frustrating that we have to develop all these strategies just to reach someone when we need help, but I'm grateful for communities like this where people share what actually works. Going to try both the screenshot method and different calling times for any future issues. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

I had almost the exact same panic when I made a similar mistake last year! Accidentally entered 35 hours instead of 25 and thought I was going to lose my benefits completely. The good news is that since you over-reported rather than under-reported, they know you weren't trying to scam the system. I ended up getting through after about 4 days of persistent calling - the key is to call right when they open and don't give up if you get disconnected. Keep your pay stubs handy and write down exactly what you meant to report versus what you actually submitted. The rep I spoke with said these types of honest errors happen constantly and they're usually pretty quick to fix once you explain the situation. Your benefits shouldn't be permanently affected, just temporarily held up until they can correct the record. Stay persistent with the calling - you'll get through eventually!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's so reassuring to hear from someone who went through almost the exact same thing. You're right that over-reporting is definitely better than under-reporting from their perspective - shows you're being honest even if you made a mistake. I'm glad to hear that 4 days of calling eventually worked for you. I've been putting off making the calls because I was worried I'd be in trouble, but reading all these success stories gives me confidence that it's just a matter of persistence. Going to start calling first thing tomorrow morning with my pay stubs ready. It's amazing how much stress a simple data entry error can cause, but knowing that the reps deal with this all the time makes me feel much better about it!

I'm going through something similar right now - accidentally reported working 32 hours when I only worked 22. It's been blocking my weekly certification for 3 days now and I'm getting really anxious about missing payments. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful! I'm definitely going to try the 7:55am calling strategy tomorrow and have all my documentation ready. It's such a relief to see that Leila got her issue resolved and that the reps are generally understanding about honest mistakes like this. The PA UC system really needs a better way to handle simple corrections, but at least there's hope. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories - it makes dealing with this so much less stressful knowing I'm not alone and that there's a way to fix it!

•You're definitely not alone in this! I made a similar mistake a few weeks ago and was terrified I'd lose my benefits entirely. The 7:55am calling strategy really does work - I got through on my second try using that timing. Make sure you have your actual pay stub showing the 22 hours ready when you call, and don't worry about explaining the mistake multiple times if needed. The rep I spoke with said they see these honest reporting errors literally every day and it's usually a quick fix once they understand what happened. Your benefits should just be temporarily on hold while they correct it, not permanently affected. The worst part is definitely the waiting and anxiety, but once you get through to someone it should be resolved pretty fast. Good luck with your call tomorrow - you've got this!

I went through this exact same nightmare about 6 months ago! Accidentally reported 30 hours instead of 20 and it completely locked me out of filing my next claim. The panic is real - I thought I had messed up my entire unemployment claim permanently. But like everyone else has said, you absolutely cannot edit or delete a submitted weekly claim. The only way is to get a human on the phone. I tried calling for almost 2 weeks straight and finally got through using the 7:55am strategy that others mentioned. The rep was actually super helpful once I explained it was an honest mistake. She fixed it in about 10 minutes and released my held payment. The key is having your actual pay stub ready and being able to clearly explain what you meant to report versus what you accidentally entered. Don't give up - these mistakes happen way more often than you'd think and they know the difference between honest errors and fraud attempts!

•Two weeks of calling sounds absolutely exhausting, but I'm so glad you finally got it resolved! Your experience really shows how important it is to not give up even when it feels hopeless. I'm dealing with a similar hours reporting mistake right now and was starting to panic that I'd permanently messed up my claim. Reading success stories like yours gives me hope that persistence really does pay off. Having the pay stub ready and being able to clearly explain the difference between what I meant to report versus what I actually entered makes total sense. It's reassuring to know that the reps can tell the difference between honest mistakes and intentional fraud. Thanks for sharing your experience - it's exactly what I needed to hear right now!

I'm new to this community but dealing with a very similar issue right now! I accidentally reported 28 hours instead of 18 on my weekly certification and now I can't file my current week's claim. Reading through all these experiences has been incredibly reassuring - I was honestly terrified that I had permanently ruined my unemployment benefits. It's amazing to see how many people have gone through the exact same thing and that the reps are generally understanding about honest mistakes. I'm definitely going to try the 7:55am calling strategy tomorrow morning with my pay stub ready. Thank you all for sharing your stories and tips - this community is a lifesaver when you're dealing with the stress and confusion of the PA UC system!
