PA UC application mistake - need phone number that works to fix wages and weeks report
I'm totally stressing out! Just submitted my first unemployment application yesterday and realized I messed up on the wages and weeks section. The website only lets me edit my profile info but not the actual claim details. I've been trying the main UC number for hours but keep getting busy signals or disconnected. Does anyone know a direct line to reach an actual person who can help me fix this mistake? I'm worried my claim will get denied if the income information isn't accurate. Any advice on how to reach a live agent would be amazing right now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of PA UC phone systems 😑 I spent 2 weeks trying to call before I found Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that basically calls UC for you and gets you in the queue, then calls you back when an agent is ready. Saved me so much frustration after calling 100+ times myself. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - totally worth checking out.

•Thanks for the suggestion! Have you used it yourself? I'm just nervous about the timing since I only filed yesterday. Will they be able to help with an application that's still being processed?

The reglar phone # is USELESS!!! i tried calling 200+ times last month and NEVER got thru. your better off going to a careerlink office in person if u can. they sometimes have UC reps there or can help u find one. Dont waste ur time with emails either they take FOREVER to answer!!!!

•That's a hit or miss though - I went to 2 CareerLink offices and they kept telling me they don't handle UC claims anymore at their location. So frustrating.

You have a few options here. First, don't panic about the wages and weeks error - this happens a lot. Remember that PA UC verifies your wages with employer records, so if there's a discrepancy, they'll usually catch it during their review process anyway. That said, it's still good to correct it now if possible. Here are your options: 1. Keep calling the regular UC number (888-313-7284) early in the morning (7:45am) when they first open 2. Send a message through your UC portal using the "Contact Us" option and specifically mention the error 3. If your claim gets monetary determination paperwork with the wrong amounts, you can formally appeal that within 15 days What specifically did you get wrong on your application? Just wages, or something else?

•Thank you SO much for the detailed info!! I accidentally reported only 2 quarters of work when I actually worked all 4 quarters last year. I was confused by the base year calculation and mixed up the dates. I'll try the early morning call tomorrow and also send a message through the portal tonight. Do you know if correcting this now will delay my claim processing?

i had same problem last week!! its so crazy they dont let u fix wages online, right?? i finaly got through by calling at EXACTLY 8:00am and pressing options 1-1-3 when it asks for menu choices

•The correct menu options are actually 1-2-1 if you need to reach a claims examiner who can modify wage information. The 1-1-3 path routes you to the payment issue department, which can't help with application corrections.

Anyone else think its ridiculos how in 2025 we still cant edit our own claim information online?? Like seriously PA needs to upgrade their systems...

•SERIOUSLY!!!! The whole system is stuck in 1995!! And they wonder why their phone lines are always jammed... if we could just fix simple mistakes online they wouldnt need so many people calling!!!

Claims Examiner here - I can provide some clarity on this issue. The reason you can't edit wage information after submission is to prevent fraud, but it does create legitimate hassles like what you're experiencing. The best approach is to call 888-313-7284 and use menu options 1-2-1 to reach a claims examiner. Be prepared with your correct quarterly wage information when you call. If your application was just submitted yesterday, a claims examiner can still make adjustments before the monetary determination is calculated. If you can't get through by phone before you receive your monetary determination letter, don't worry - you'll have 15 days to file an appeal of that determination and provide your correct wage information at that time. Make sure to have paystubs or other documentation to support your corrected wages. One more tip: The UC phone lines are least busy on Thursdays and Fridays in the afternoons. Most people call Monday mornings.

•This is incredibly helpful information! Thank you so much. I'll try calling tomorrow afternoon with the 1-2-1 menu options and have my W2 and paystubs ready. If I have to appeal the monetary determination later, is that process complicated? I'm worried about doing something wrong and messing up my claim even more.

Just an update on my earlier suggestion - I used Claimyr specifically to fix wage information on my claim back in January. Once I got through to the agent, they were able to correct my information in about 10 minutes. The sooner you can get this fixed, the better, since it affects your benefit calculation.

•I've heard mixed things about these services... did you need to give them any personal info? Did it work right away?

@randomuser1289 You just enter your phone number so they can call you back when they get a UC agent on the line. The service doesn't see any of your claim information. It worked on my first try but took about 90 minutes before I got the callback.

•That sounds way less stressful than calling hundreds of times. I'm going to try the regular number one more time tomorrow morning, but if that doesn't work, I'll definitely look into this option. Thanks!

Regarding your question about appeals - the process isn't too complicated. If you need to appeal a monetary determination, you'll receive instructions with the determination letter. It basically involves filling out a form explaining why the determination is incorrect and providing documentation to support your claim. The important part is meeting the 15-day deadline. But if you're able to speak with a claims examiner now before the determination is issued, that's much easier. Good luck tomorrow with your call!

•Thank you! I've got all my pay stubs organized and ready for tomorrow's call attempt. Will update here if I manage to get through and fix the issue.

UPDATE: Finally got through to UC this morning! Called at 7:58am and used the 1-2-1 options as suggested. Only had to wait about 20 minutes on hold. The agent was super helpful and updated my wage information right away. She said it shouldn't delay my claim processing at all since they were still working on the initial review. Thanks everyone for the advice!
