PA UC claim under review - stuck without payments for 4 weeks, need help ASAP

So frustrated right now! PA Unemployment put my claim under review 4 weeks ago for the most ridiculous reason - I accidentally put I worked 37 hours instead of 37.5 on ONE weekly certification. Now my entire claim is frozen, no payments coming through, and they've put my new benefit year application on hold too! I've called 43 times this week alone and can't get through to a human being. The automated system just says 'your claim is under review' with no timeline. I'm behind on rent, car payment is due next week, and I seriously don't know what to do. Has anyone dealt with claims being 'under review'? How long does this typically take? Is there ANY way to move it along faster? My former employer already confirmed my work hours and separation reason weeks ago!

Unfortunately, PA UC reviews can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks right now. They're seriously backed up from the system updates they did in January 2025. The small discrepancy in hours you reported shouldn't be a major issue, but once something triggers a review, it has to go through the full process. Have you tried sending a message through your dashboard? Sometimes that works better than calling.

I've sent 3 messages through the dashboard with zero response!! This is insane. How am I supposed to survive 8 WEEKS with no income? All because of a half-hour mistake on a form? Do you think contacting my state rep would help? I'm desperate at this point.

same thing hapened to me last month. took 6 weeks to resolve and they never even told me why it was flagged for review. just suddenly started getting payments again with backpay. the system is a total joke

6 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long. Did you do anything that might have helped speed it up? Did you get any notification when they completed the review?

nope, nothing helped. just got a deposit one day with all the back weeks. no email or anything. i tried calling every day and never got thru once

Try calling right when they open at 7:55am instead of 8am - sometimes you can get in the queue a bit earlier. Also, make sure you're still filing your weekly claims while under review! That's super important. If they approve the review, they'll release all those weeks at once, but ONLY if you've been filing each week.

Thanks - I've been filing every week faithfully. And I've tried the early morning calls but it doesn't seem to matter. Still just get busy signals or the automatic hangup after the recording about high call volume.

THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US AT ALL!! I was under review for THREE MONTHS last year because their system thought I worked for two employers when it was actually the same company that changed names!!! The only thing that helped was contacting my state rep's office. DO THAT ASAP!!

Omg three months is horrifying. I'll definitely contact my state rep today. Did you just call their office or did you have to fill out some sort of form?

Call AND email them. Be super specific about your claim number and how long it's been under review. They have special contacts in the UC office who can flag your claim. It still took 2 weeks after I contacted them, but way better than waiting forever!!

I work for a nonprofit that helps people with UC issues, and reviews are definitely taking longer than usual right now. One thing that might help - check your dashboard documents section to see if they've uploaded any forms requesting additional information. Sometimes they put these documents up but don't send notifications, and your review stays open until you respond. Also, make sure your IDme verification is current - that's another common reason for extended reviews.

Just checked and don't see any documents waiting for a response. And my IDme is definitely current - I had to update it when I applied for the new benefit year. It's just so frustrating that a tiny error can cause this much disruption to my life.

After weeks of trying to get through to PA unemployment about my claim review, I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an agent in under 20 minutes! I was shocked because I'd been trying for over a month with no luck. They basically call for you and connect you when an agent answers. The agent was able to see exactly why my claim was under review and pushed it through to be resolved that day. Check out their demo video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and their website is claimyr.com. Seriously saved my sanity.

Thank you! I've never heard of this before but at this point I'm willing to try anything. I'll check out that video right now.

@user8 It worked for me! I was skeptical too but was desperate after not being able to get through for weeks. Once I actually talked to someone, they resolved my issue that day. Wish I'd known about it earlier.

jus saying even when u do get thru sometimes they cant do anything about the review cuz it has to wait for an examiner and those ppl are like bigfoot nobody ever sees them lol

This isn't entirely accurate. While some issues do require an examiner's review, regular agents can actually resolve many types of reviews - especially simple discrepancies like the hours reporting issue mentioned here. They can also check the status and sometimes expedite reviews that have been pending too long. So it's definitely worth getting through to someone.

Don't forget to check your spam/junk email folder too. I've had multiple clients miss important UC correspondence because it went to spam. Sometimes they'll email you asking for additional information, and if you don't respond within 7 days, the review gets extended even longer.

Just checked my spam folder and there's nothing from UC there either. I've been obsessively checking all folders daily because I'm so stressed about this. But thanks for the suggestion - it's definitely something people could easily miss.

If you do get through to someone, make sure to ask them to add detailed notes to your file about the discrepancy being a simple data entry error. Sometimes getting those notes in your file can help speed up the examiner's review when they get to your case. Also, request that they mark it as financially critical due to your impending bills. They sometimes prioritize cases where there's documented financial hardship.

That's really helpful advice, thank you! I'll definitely mention the financial hardship aspect because it's absolutely true. Rent is already late and I'm getting nervous calls from my landlord.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at UC this morning! Used the Claimyr service that was suggested here and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent said my review was triggered because my former employer reported slightly different hours than I did on that one week (their 37.5 vs my 37). She said she could see notes that the review was actually completed yesterday but hadn't been processed in the system yet. My payments should release within 2-3 business days including all back weeks! Such a relief after nearly 5 weeks of stress. Thanks everyone for the advice!

That's great news! So glad you got it resolved. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims until you actually see the money hit your account, just to be safe.
