WorkSource Reemployment Zoom meeting - do they call me or do I call them?
I'm scheduled for my first mandatory WorkSource reemployment services meeting on January 14th, 2025 and it says it'll be over Zoom. The email notification doesn't clearly explain how to connect though? Does WorkSource call ME at the scheduled time or am I supposed to call/login THEM somehow? I've never done one of these meetings before and I'm super nervous about messing something up. The last thing I want is to miss this meeting and have my unemployment benefits affected. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any help would be really appreciated!!

They won't call you - you need to use the Zoom link that should have been provided in your ESD eServices message center or email notification. Double-check your notification for a URL that starts with "zoom.us" or something similar. You'll click that link about 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time, and it will put you in a virtual waiting room until the WorkSource specialist admits you to the meeting. Make sure your camera and microphone are working beforehand. They'll expect you to have your camera on for the meeting so they can verify your identity.

•Omg thank you!! I just checked again and found the Zoom link buried at the bottom of the notification email. I totally missed it the first time! Will definitely test my camera beforehand. Do you know how long these meetings typically last?

•That's a relief to hear! I was worried it would be super intense or something. Did they ask for proof of job searches during the meeting?

They usually run 30-45 minutes depending on how many questions you have. It's mostly an orientation to WorkSource services, and they'll go over job search requirements. They might also suggest some workshops that could count toward your weekly job search activities. They generally don't ask for specific proof of job searches during this initial meeting, but they'll explain how to properly document them for future reference. Just make sure you've been keeping track of your 3 job search activities each week as required.

WHY do they make this so confusing?? I missed my first meeting because the link was hidden at the bottom of a long email and ended up having my benefits stopped for 2 weeks!!! Had to call ESD multiple times to get it fixed. The whole system is designed to trip people up I swear!!!

Just to add some extra info - make sure you're in a quiet place with good internet for the Zoom call. My first WorkSource meeting got disconnected halfway through because of my spotty WiFi, and I had to reschedule the whole thing which was a hassle. Also, have a notepad ready to write down any resources they mention. They'll likely tell you about upcoming workshops that count as job search activities (which are easier than applying to jobs sometimes). If you have any specific career goals or needs, definitely mention them during the call. The WorkSource specialists can actually be pretty helpful if you let them know what you're looking for!

When I had my meeting scheduled last month, I had such a hard time getting through to ESD when I had questions about it. Tried calling for days with no luck. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach an ESD agent to confirm details about my WorkSource meeting. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 showing how it works. Got connected to ESD in about 15 minutes instead of spending hours on hold or getting hung up on. The agent was able to resend my meeting info with the Zoom link highlighted so I wouldn't miss it. Just sharing in case you need to reach ESD for any clarification before your meeting.

•Thanks for sharing this! I might actually need this if I have any other questions. I've tried calling ESD directly before and it's been impossible to get through.

I just went to my reemployment meeting yesterday actually! here's what happened: 1. I clicked the zoom link about 10 mins early 2. Sat in waiting room for like 5 mins 3. Lady let me in and checked my ID (have your drivers license ready) 4. She explained WorkSource services for about 20 mins 5. Asked if I had questions 6. Told me I needed to attend at least one workshop in the next 2 weeks 7. Meeting over - took 35 mins total Suuuuper easy and everyone was nice! just don't miss it or you'll have to deal with restarting your claim which is a nightmare trust me lol

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I didn't realize they'd check ID so I'll have that ready. Did they say if the workshops are also on Zoom or do you have to go in person?

No problem! They offer both in-person and Zoom workshops, so you can choose what works better for you. The lady recommended I take the "Resume Builder" workshop since I haven't updated mine in years. It counts as a job search activity too which is nice!

One more tip - if you do end up missing the meeting for some reason (tech issues, emergency, etc.), call ESD immediately and explain the situation. Sometimes they can reschedule you without penalty if you're proactive about it. But definitely try not to miss it in the first place! The rescheduling process can take time, and your benefits might be delayed while they sort it out.
