ESD WorkSource appointment letter - is Zoom still an option in 2025?
Hi everyone! I just got one of those mandatory WorkSource letters in the mail saying I need to schedule an appointment to maintain my unemployment benefits. The letter mentions both in-person and Zoom options, but I've heard from a friend that they've been phasing out virtual appointments in some areas. I selected the Zoom option online since I'm taking care of my elderly mom and it's hard for me to get to their office (30 miles away and my car's been acting up). Just want to make sure they ACTUALLY still do Zoom appointments before I count on it? Has anyone done a WorkSource appointment via Zoom recently? Don't want to mess up my claim over something silly like this!

Yes, WorkSource definitely still offers Zoom appointments in 2025. I had mine last month via Zoom with no issues. Just make sure you test your camera and mic beforehand, and have your job search log ready to show them. They'll send you a confirmation email with the Zoom link about 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. Be on time - they mark you as a no-show if you're more than 5 minutes late!

•Thank you!! That's so helpful. Did they actually check your job search logs during the Zoom call? I've been keeping track but I'm worried some of my activities might not qualify.

•Oh that's stressful! Good point about the wifi. I'll make sure to be somewhere with a solid connection.

YES they still have Zoom but DON'T TRUST THE SYSTEM!!! My Zoom appointment got "lost" somehow and ESD tried to disqualify me for missing it even though I had the email confirmation!!! Had to appeal and wait 6 WEEKS to get my benefits back. SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING and record the meeting if you can (tell them you're recording). The system is designed to trip you up and deny benefits!!

•This happened to my brother too! His WorkSource appointment disappeared from their system but thankfully he had screenshots. These "mandatory meetings" are just hoops to jump through hoping people miss them so they can deny benefits.

I've been helping people navigate the ESD/WorkSource system for years, and yes, Zoom is still a valid option for 2025 WorkSource appointments. In fact, they've actually improved the virtual meeting process recently. Make sure you: 1) Have your job search log ready to screen share (they WILL check it) 2) Prepare 1-2 questions about job search resources (shows engagement) 3) Check your email's spam folder for the Zoom link (common issue) 4) Log in 5 minutes early The appointments typically last 30-45 minutes. They'll review your job search activities, offer resources, and possibly suggest training programs. It's actually quite helpful if you approach it with the right mindset.

•Thank you so much for the detailed response! I'll definitely prepare those questions and check my spam folder for the link. Do you know if they're strict about the 3 job search activities per week? I missed documenting one week properly because I was confused about what counted.

If you're having trouble reaching ESD about your WorkSource appointment or any claim issues, I highly recommend Claimyr. I was in the same boat last month - couldn't get confirmation about my Zoom appointment and couldn't get through to ESD on the phone (46 attempts!!!). Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Totally worth it for the peace of mind knowing your claim won't get messed up because of communication issues.

I had a zoom worksource appt back in january. The lady was super nice and mostly just wanted to make sure i was actually looking for work. Didn't even check all my job search logs just asked a few questions. But i hear it depends on which worker you get, some are strict.

Thank you everyone for the helpful responses! I feel much better now knowing that Zoom is still a valid option. I'll make sure to prepare my job search logs, test my connection, and be ready 5 minutes early. I appreciate all the advice!

•Regarding your question about the 3 job search activities per week - yes, they are quite strict about this requirement. However, during your WorkSource appointment, you can ask for clarification on what activities count. If you have documentation showing you were actively seeking work but weren't sure if it qualified, bring that up during your appointment. Often, the WorkSource specialist can help you properly categorize past activities. Just be honest about your confusion rather than making something up.
