Where to find my W2 form on ESD unemployment portal?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to do my taxes and need to find my W2 from ESD for the unemployment benefits I received in 2024. I've been looking all over the SecureAccess Washington site and my eServices account but can't seem to locate where they keep the tax forms. Is there a specific section where I should be looking? Or do they mail these out and I missed it? This is my first time filing taxes after receiving unemployment so I'm a bit confused about the process. Any help would be appreciated!

Oh! That explains why I couldn't find it. Thank you for correcting me. So I need to look for a 1099-G instead of a W2. I feel silly now.

As the previous commenter mentioned, unemployment benefits are reported on a 1099-G form, not a W2 (which is only for employee wages). To find your 1099-G on the ESD website:\n\n1. Log into your eServices account\n2. Look for the menu option that says \

Thank you so much for those detailed steps! I just checked again following your instructions and found the 1099-G section. You're right, it was on the left menu but I completely overlooked it. Really appreciate your help!

Sometimes the ESD website can be confusing to navigate, especially if you're looking for tax documents. If you're still having trouble accessing your 1099-G after following the directions above, you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have a service that helps you get through to an actual ESD agent on the phone without waiting for hours. I used them when I had issues accessing my tax documents last year. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

Is that service really worth it? I've been calling ESD for 3 days straight about my missing 1099-G and can't get through to anyone. Always get the \

It worked for me when I was in a similar situation. After trying to get through for a week on my own, I used their service and spoke to an agent within about 15 minutes. They basically navigate the phone system for you and hold your place in line. Was definitely worth it in my case since I needed the tax document quickly to file my taxes.

They NEVER make this easy!!!! I had the SAME PROBLEM last year and spent DAYS trying to get my tax form. The 1099-G is supposed to be available by Jan 31 but sometimes the website doesn't update properly. And good luck getting through on the phone!!! The system is DESIGNED to keep us from talking to real people.\n\nCheck your physical mail too because sometimes they mail it but it looks like junk mail so you might throw it away by accident. I did that last year and had to request a new one which took FOREVER!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up about checking my mail carefully! I'll keep an eye out. You're right about the ESD phone lines - I tried calling once and gave up after being on hold for 45 minutes.

I had a similar issue last year. If you received unemployment in 2024, you should be able to view and download your 1099-G through your eServices account. But if you can't find it there, you can also request it by calling the automated system at 800-318-6022. When I did it, I had to enter my SSN and PIN and then navigate to the option for tax forms. The automated system can mail you a new copy if needed.

Just a heads up - make sure you're logging into the correct account. I was confused last year because I have both a regular SAW (SecureAccess Washington) account AND a separate eServices account for unemployment. I kept looking in the wrong place!\n\nAlso, don't forget that you'll need to report your unemployment income on your taxes even if you had taxes withheld. When I filed last year, I almost forgot to enter the information from my 1099-G and would have been in trouble if I'd submitted without it.\n\nHope you find what you need!

That's really good to know about the separate accounts. I think I might have been making that exact mistake! And I'll definitely make sure to include the unemployment income on my tax return. Thank you for the helpful reminders!

Just a follow-up: if you can't find your 1099-G online and need it urgently for tax filing, you can also contact the IRS directly. They typically receive this information from ESD and may be able to provide you with the total unemployment compensation paid to you during the tax year. This can be done by requesting a wage and income transcript from the IRS website.

Thanks for this additional information! I was able to find my 1099-G following everyone's advice, but this is good to know for future reference. I appreciate all the help from everyone!
