Struggling to find weekly claim filing option on ESD website - step-by-step help needed

I've been approved for unemployment benefits in WA state for almost 3 weeks now, but I can't figure out where to file my weekly claims online. I've logged into my eServices account and clicked around everywhere, but there's no obvious button or link for filing weekly claims. The instruction pamphlet they sent me says to go to the ESD website and click on 'file weekly claim' but I literally cannot find this anywhere. I'm worried I'll lose my benefits if I don't file soon - already missed one week trying to figure this out. Has the website changed recently? Am I missing something super obvious here? Any help would be greatly appreciated because the anxiety of potentially losing benefits is really getting to me.

r u going to the right website? its not just esd.wa.gov, u need 2 go to secure.esd.wa.gov/home then login with ur secureaccess washington account. after u login theres a section called unemployment insurance and u click on that, then theres a option that says 'claim weekly benefits' or something

Thank you! I was going to esd.wa.gov and logging in there, didn't realize I needed to go to secure.esd.wa.gov instead. I'll try that right now.

The ESD website can be confusing for first-time users. Here are the exact steps: 1. Go to secure.esd.wa.gov/home (NOT the regular ESD website) 2. Sign in with your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) credentials 3. After logging in, you'll see a section called "Unemployment Insurance" 4. Click on that section 5. Look for "UI Claim" or "File Weekly Claim" button 6. You'll need to answer all the questions about your job search activities (make sure you're doing 3 job search activities each week) If you still don't see the option to file weekly claims after logging in, your claim might have an issue that needs resolution. In that case, you should call ESD directly.

This is super helpful, thank you! I was definitely on the wrong website. Just followed your steps and found the weekly claim option. One quick question - for the job search activities, does applying to jobs through Indeed count? I've been doing that but wasn't sure if I needed to do something more formal.

Yes, applying for jobs through Indeed definitely counts as a job search activity! Just make sure you record the date, employer name, position, and how you applied (online). You need 3 different job search activities each week. Also, IMPORTANT TIP: Set a weekly reminder on your phone. You have to file each week between Sunday and Saturday - if you miss a week, you may have to restart your claim. The system won't remind you!

Thank you so much for confirming! I've been applying to at least 5 jobs a week, so I should be covered. And that's a great tip about the reminder - just set one up for Sunday mornings.

The exact same thing happened to me last month!! I kept going to the main ESD website and getting totally lost. Wasted like 2 weeks trying to figure it out and nearly had a breakdown thinking I'd lose all my benefits. The UI website is SO badly designed, wish they would make it more intuitive. Glad you figured it out!

TOTALLY AGREE! The ESD website is stuck in 2005 or something. There should be a big obvious button that says "FILE YOUR WEEKLY CLAIM HERE" right on the homepage. Instead you have to navigate through like 5 different screens. It's ridiculous how many people struggle with this.

If you're still having issues getting into your account or can't find the weekly claim option, I had to call ESD directly to fix a similar problem. But it's almost impossible to get through on their regular line. I discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual ESD agent in under 25 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video demo of how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it to get your claim sorted out quickly.

I've heard mixed things about these services that help you reach ESD. Did they actually connect you to a real person? I've been trying to call for days and either get disconnected or told to call back later.

Yeah it actually worked for me! Got connected to a real ESD agent who fixed my account issues. Much better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own. The regular ESD phone system is completely overwhelmed still.

One other important thing to know: if you've already missed filing for a week, you can still claim it retroactively. When you log in and file, there's an option to file for previous weeks. You'll need to provide a reason for filing late (technical difficulties is valid), but ESD generally allows retroactive claims if you have a good reason. Don't panic if you missed a week!

Oh that's such a relief! I was worried I'd permanently lost benefits for the week I missed. Thank you for letting me know about the retroactive option - will definitely use that!

I'm glad you got it figured out! Just FYI - sometimes the website does maintenance on Tuesdays, which can make certain options disappear temporarily. If you ever log in and don't see the option to file a weekly claim when you normally do, try again later that day or the next day before panicking. They rarely announce these maintenance periods which causes so much unnecessary stress!

Omg YES! Last month the entire filing system was down for like 6 hours on a Sunday (when most people file) and there was ZERO notice about it on their main page. I thought my account was broken or something. So frustrating!

also dont forget u have to answer NO to the question about if ur able to work if ur sick that week or had to take care of someone. my sister messed that up and it caused her whole claim to get flagged for review and she didnt get paid for like 3 weeks while they sorted it out

Thanks for the heads up! I'll be really careful with all the questions. Really don't want to trigger any reviews or delays.
