When does ESD deposit weekly UI payments after filing online?
Hi everyone, I'm new to unemployment and just filed my first weekly claim online yesterday (Sunday). The ESD website says payment processing takes 24-48 hours, but I'm wondering when I'll actually see money in my account? Does it depend on whether you choose direct deposit or the debit card option? My rent is due next week and I'm trying to figure out my budget. Thanks!

If you filed on Sunday and chose direct deposit, you'll typically see the money in your account by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. The first payment sometimes takes a bit longer though, especially if your claim needed any additional verification. The ESD processing time is just the first step - then your bank's processing time adds another day usually.

•NOT TRUE!!! It completely depends on if ur claim has ANY issues or needs adjudication. My 1st payment took THREE WEEKS because they had to "verify" my employment history. The 24-48 hours is ONLY for perfect claims with ZERO issues. Most people wait WAY longer.

For me with direct deposit, I always file Sunday night and see the money Wednesday morning like clockwork. If you chose the debit card option, it usually takes an extra day. The first payment might take longer as they verify your info, but after that it's pretty consistent. The ESD website says 24-48 hours for processing, but that doesn't include the bank transfer time.

hi i get my payment every wednesday but sometimes its tuesday if i file early on sunday morning instead of waiting till night time. i think filing early makes the process start faster and you get paid sooner just my 2 cents

•This is actually a good point! I've noticed the same pattern. If I file before noon on Sunday, I sometimes see payment Tuesday afternoon. After 8pm Sunday filing = Wednesday payment for me too.

I struggled for weeks trying to get through to ESD when my payments were delayed. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in under 30 minutes! •Yes it's legit. They basically call ESD for you and use a system that keeps trying until it gets through, then connects you directly to an ESD agent. Saved me days of frustration. The video demo shows exactly how it works.

One important thing to know is that holidays can delay your payment by a day. Since Memorial Day is coming up, plan accordingly if that affects your payment day. Also, if there's a bank holiday that falls on your normal payment day, it could push things back a bit.

Ugggh the whole system is BROKEN!! I file every Sunday morning at 12:01am and sometimes get paid Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, sometimes Thursday, and once it took until FRIDAY with no explanation!!! ESD doesn't care that people have bills due and can't plan because they're so inconsistent. Call them and they just say "it's processing" WHATEVER THAT MEANS!!

just remember u have to do ur 3 job search activities each week or they can pause ur payments to check them. happened to my neighbor and he had to wait 2 extra weeks to get paid cuz they wanted proof of his job applications

I've been on unemployment twice now. First time in 2022 and now again since January. I've noticed my payments come faster with my credit union than they did with Chase. So your bank might make a difference too in how quickly it shows up. Just thought I'd mention that since nobody else did.
