What does 'not disqualified' mean for Washington ESD unemployment claim?
I just checked my Washington ESD account and under my claim status it says 'not disqualified' but I'm still not getting any payments. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like always but my payment status is still pending. Does 'not disqualified' mean I'm approved or is there something else I need to do? This is my first time filing for unemployment and I'm really confused about what all these statuses mean.

Not' disqualified basically means Washington ESD'hasn t found any reason to deny your claim so far.'It s a good sign but'doesn t automatically mean'you ll get paid. Your claim could still be in adjudication or waiting for otherverifications.

•Thank you! So it's not a guarantee of payment but at least they haven't rejected me outright?

Jacinda Yu
•Exactly. It means you've cleared the basic eligibility requirements but there might be other steps in the process.

I had the same status for weeks and was going crazy trying to figure out what it meant. Turns out my claim was stuck in some kind of verification process that Washington ESD never told me about.

•How did you find out what was holding it up? I don't see any messages in my account about needing to verify anything.

•I had to call them but it took forever to get through. The automated system kept hanging up on me.

If you're having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone, I discovered this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to an actual agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. It saved me hours of redialing.

•Is that legitimate? I'm nervous about using third-party services for my unemployment stuff.

•Yeah it's real. They just help you get through the phone queue faster. You still talk directly to Washington ESD agents.

•I used Claimyr last month when my claim was stuck. Got through to Washington ESD in like 20 minutes instead of calling all day.

NOT DISQUALIFIED doesn't mean anything if they're still not paying you!!! I've been 'not disqualified' for 6 weeks and haven't seen a dime. Washington ESD is a joke.

•6 weeks?? That's terrifying. Did you ever find out why the delay?

•Something about my previous employer contesting the claim but nobody ever told me that directly. Had to find out through a phone call.

The status progression usually goes: Filed → Not Disqualified → Adjudication (if needed) → Approved → Payment. You might be somewhere in the middle of that process.

•This is helpful! I wish Washington ESD would explain these steps better on their website.

•So adjudication could still happen even if I'm currently 'not disqualified'?

Jacinda Yu
•Yes, if something comes up that needs review. Could be an employer contest, work search issues, or just random verification checks.

mine said not disqualified for like 2 days then switched to approved and i got paid the next week so maybe yours will update soon

Brian Downey
•That gives me hope! How long ago did you file your initial claim?

Check if you have any pending fact-finding questionnaires in your account. Sometimes Washington ESD sends those out but they don't always show up as notifications. I missed one for two weeks and that's what was holding up my payments.

•Where would I find those? I don't see anything obvious in my account dashboard.

•Look under 'Correspondence' or 'Messages' section. They're not always in the main claim status area.

•Good tip! I found one buried in there that I never saw. No wonder my claim was stuck.

The 'not disqualified' status is basically Washington ESD's way of saying 'we haven't found a reason to deny you yet' but it doesn't mean they're done reviewing your claim. It's like being in limbo.

Brian Downey
•That's frustrating. I wish they would just tell us what they're actually reviewing.

•Right? The whole process is so unclear. At least with other government agencies you get some idea of what's happening.

If you need to check on your claim status, calling Washington ESD directly is still your best bet. Since you mentioned having trouble getting through, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier really does work. Worth trying if you're stuck waiting.

•How much does that service cost? I'm already tight on money waiting for my claim to process.

•It's not expensive compared to missing weeks of benefits. Check their site for current pricing.

I'm in the same boat - 'not disqualified' but no payments. Filed 3 weeks ago and getting really worried about my rent. This whole system is broken.

•At least I'm not alone in this. It's scary when you don't know if money is coming or not.

One thing to remember is that even if you're 'not disqualified', you still need to keep filing your weekly claims on time. Missing those can cause issues even if your initial claim eventually gets approved.

Brian Downey
•I've been doing that every week. Should I keep doing it even though I'm not getting paid yet?
0 coins
Jacinda Yu
•Yes, absolutely. Those weekly claims establish your ongoing eligibility. If you stop filing them, you could lose benefits even after approval.

•This is important advice. I stopped filing weekly claims when I wasn't getting paid and it screwed up my whole claim.

not disqualified just means they havent found anything wrong with your claim YET. doesnt mean they wont find something later. happened to my cousin

•That's not very reassuring... What happened with your cousin's claim?

The key is to stay on top of any requirements while you're waiting. Make sure you're doing your work search activities and documenting them properly. Washington ESD can ask for that information at any time.

•Make sure you're meeting the minimum weekly requirements and keeping detailed records. Also register with WorkSource if you haven't already.

I was 'not disqualified' for 3 weeks then got approved and received backpay for all the weeks I was waiting. So there's hope! Just be patient and keep filing weekly.
0 coins
Brian Downey
•That's encouraging! Did you do anything specific to speed up the process?
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•Not really, just kept filing weekly claims and made sure all my information was accurate. Think it just took them time to process everything.

Check your payment method too. Even if you get approved, payments can get delayed if there's an issue with your bank account info or debit card setup.

Brian Downey
•Good point. I set up direct deposit when I filed. Should I verify that information?

•Wouldn't hurt to double-check. Make sure your bank account number and routing number are correct.

Been there! 'Not disqualified' was the most stressful status because you don't know if you should be relieved or worried. Mine changed to approved after about 10 days.

Brian Downey
•10 days doesn't sound too bad. I'm at about 2 weeks now so maybe there's still hope.

•Every claim is different but hang in there. The waiting is the worst part.

Final thought - if you're still stuck after another week or two, definitely consider calling Washington ESD. And if you can't get through their regular lines, Claimyr really is worth trying. I know I keep mentioning it but it genuinely helped me resolve my claim issues faster.

•I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully it won't come to that but good to know there are options.
