What day does Washington ESD unemployment direct deposit hit my account?
I just filed my weekly claim on Sunday and I'm wondering when I can expect the direct deposit to show up in my bank account. I know it varies by bank but does anyone know what day Washington ESD actually sends out the payments? I'm with Chase and really need to know when to expect it so I can plan my bills accordingly.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesday nights, so most people see the deposit hit their account on Wednesday. Some banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo might show it as early as Tuesday evening, while others like Chase usually show it Wednesday morning.

Perfect, so I should see it Wednesday then. Thanks for the quick response!

Just a heads up - if there are any issues with your claim or if Washington ESD needs to verify something, the payment could be delayed. Make sure you don't have any pending adjudication issues that could hold up your payment.

How would I know if there's an adjudication issue? My claim shows as processed.

You'd see it in your account under claim status. If it says 'adjudication in progress' or 'pending' that means there's a hold on your claim.

I've been waiting 3 weeks for my payment and can't get through to anyone at Washington ESD! The phone lines are always busy and I keep getting disconnected. This is so frustrating.

I had the same problem last month and found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a Washington ESD agent. They have a system that calls for you and navigates the phone tree. Check out claimyr.com - there's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

Is that legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed.

Yeah it's real, they don't ask for any personal info upfront and it actually worked for me. Worth trying when you're stuck like this.

the direct deposit usually comes wednesday but sometimes thursday if theres a holiday or something

Good point about holidays, I didn't think about that affecting the timing.

For future reference, Washington ESD posts a payment calendar on their website that shows when payments will be delayed due to holidays. It's usually under the 'Claimant Services' section.

I never knew they had a payment calendar! That's super helpful, going to bookmark that page.

Same here, that would have saved me from panicking a few times when payments were late.

Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your Washington ESD account. I had an old routing number and it took me forever to figure out why my payments weren't coming through.

How do I check that? I set it up when I first filed but want to make sure it's right.

Log into your account and go to payment method under profile settings. You can verify your bank info there.

Ugh the Washington ESD system is so confusing. I filed my claim but have no idea if it went through properly. The website keeps timing out when I try to check my claim status.

Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser. The Washington ESD website is pretty glitchy sometimes.

I'll try that thanks. This whole process is way more complicated than it should be.

Been getting unemployment for 6 months now and it's always Wednesday morning around 8am that I see the deposit. Very consistent unless there's a holiday.

That's reassuring to know it's consistent. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Does anyone know if the timing is different for standby unemployment vs regular UI? I'm on standby and wondering if that affects when the payment comes through.

Jake Sinclair
Standby payments follow the same schedule as regular UI. The difference is just in the eligibility requirements, not the payment timing.

Good to know, thanks for clarifying that!

I switched banks last month and forgot to update my direct deposit info with Washington ESD. Took me two weeks to figure out why my payments stopped coming. Don't make the same mistake I did!

Demi Lagos
Oh no! How long did it take to get it sorted out once you updated your info?

About a week for the new bank info to take effect, then I got all my back payments in one lump sum.

The Washington ESD customer service is impossible to reach. I've been trying for weeks to get through about a payment issue and the phone just rings and rings.

I used Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD when I had a similar issue. It's a calling service that handles the wait time for you - saved me hours of frustration. They have a demo video that explains how it works.

How much does something like that cost? I'm already tight on money.

It's worth checking out their site to see if it makes sense for your situation. When you're stuck without payments, sometimes you need to try different approaches.

For anyone wondering about specific banks: Chase, Wells Fargo, and US Bank typically show deposits Wednesday morning. Credit unions and smaller banks might show it Tuesday night or Wednesday depending on their processing schedule.

What happens if Wednesday is a holiday? Do they process payments the day before or after?
0 coins
Mason Lopez
Usually they process the day before if it's a federal holiday that affects banking. Washington ESD typically sends out notices about holiday payment schedules.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for those notices.

Pro tip: if you're not seeing your deposit by Thursday, definitely call Washington ESD to check on your claim status. Something might be holding it up.

I always get mine Wednesday but my sister gets hers Tuesday night. We both bank with different credit unions so I think it really depends on your specific bank's processing schedule.

Interesting how much variation there is between banks. Good to know what to expect with Chase.

One time my payment was delayed because I had to verify some information with Washington ESD. Make sure you respond to any requests for information quickly or it can hold up your payments.

How do they contact you about verification issues? Email or through the website?

Fernanda Marquez
Both usually. Check your account regularly and make sure your email is up to date in your profile.

Remember that even though Washington ESD processes on Tuesday, your bank might have a hold time before making the funds available. Most banks make unemployment deposits available immediately but some have overnight holds.

Chase has always made mine available right away, so hopefully that continues. Thanks for the heads up though!
