What day does Washington ESD unemployment get deposited into bank account?
I just filed my first weekly claim with Washington ESD and I'm wondering when the money actually hits my bank account. I submitted it on Sunday and it shows as processed but I don't see any deposit yet. Does anyone know what day of the week unemployment benefits usually get deposited? I'm with Chase bank if that matters.

It depends on when you file your weekly claim. If you file Sunday-Tuesday, you usually get paid Wednesday. If you file Wednesday or later, it goes to the following Wednesday. Your bank might take an extra day to process it though.

•Oh okay so since I filed Sunday I should see it tomorrow? That would be a huge relief.

Washington ESD processes payments on Wednesdays for claims filed by Tuesday at midnight. However, the actual deposit date depends on your bank. Most major banks (Chase, Wells Fargo, BofA) will show the deposit Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. Credit unions sometimes take until Friday.

•Thank you! This is really helpful. I was starting to panic that something went wrong with my claim.

•What if your claim shows 'paid' but you still don't see money after a week? Mine has been stuck like that.

•That could be a banking issue or your debit card might be locked. Have you tried calling Washington ESD to verify your payment method?

I've been trying to call Washington ESD for THREE DAYS about my missing payment and I can't get through to anyone! The phone just rings and rings or I get disconnected. This is so frustrating when you need help with your claim.

•I had the same problem last month. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to Washington ESD agents. They have some kind of system that waits on hold for you. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

WEDNESDAY IS PAYMENT DAY FOR WASHINGTON ESD! Been getting unemployment for 8 months now and it's always Wednesday unless there's a holiday. Then it gets pushed to Thursday usually.

•Good to know about holidays! Are there any coming up that might delay payment?

•Next holiday that affects it would probably be President's Day in February. Washington ESD doesn't process on federal holidays.

wait is this for regular UI or standby? because standby payments might be different timing

•Regular unemployment. I got laid off from my retail job in December.

•Standby has the same payment schedule, just different eligibility requirements.

Pro tip: set up direct deposit if you haven't already. The debit card they send can have issues and delays. Direct deposit is usually more reliable for getting your Washington ESD payments on time.

•I did set up direct deposit when I first applied. Hopefully that means fewer problems.

•How do you switch from the debit card to direct deposit? I'm having so many issues with the card.

•Log into your eServices account and look for payment method options. You can change it there.

Just want to add that if your claim goes into adjudication, payments stop until that's resolved. Make sure your claim status shows 'paid' not 'pending' or 'under review.

Zara Malik
•Mine shows 'paid' so that should be good. What causes adjudication anyway?

•Lots of things - employer disputes, income discrepancies, job search issues. It's basically when Washington ESD needs to investigate something about your claim.

•I've been in adjudication for 6 weeks now. It's a nightmare trying to get updates from Washington ESD about what's happening with my case.

Does anyone know if Washington ESD payments come through earlier if you have early direct deposit with your bank? Some banks release deposits as soon as they receive them.

•I have Chime and sometimes get my unemployment Tuesday night instead of Wednesday. But it's not consistent.

•Interesting! I might switch to a bank with early deposit features.

For anyone struggling to reach Washington ESD by phone, I recently discovered Claimyr after weeks of failed attempts. They actually got me connected to an agent who helped resolve my payment issue. The service handled all the waiting on hold which saved me hours of frustration.

•You're the second person to mention this service. Did they actually help fix your problem?

•Yes! The agent was able to explain why my payments were delayed and got it sorted out. Much better than the runaround I was getting trying to call myself.

Wednesday is definitely the standard but I've noticed holiday weeks can mess things up. Last month during New Year's week my payment was delayed until Friday.

•Good to keep in mind for future weeks. At least now I know what to expect normally.

Make sure you're filing your weekly claims on time too. If you're late filing, it can delay when you get paid even if it gets approved.

•I filed mine Sunday evening, so that should be fine right?

•Yeah Sunday is perfect. The cutoff is Tuesday at midnight for Wednesday payment.

This whole thread is making me realize how confusing Washington ESD timing can be for new claimants. They really should explain this better in the initial paperwork.

•Totally agree! I had to figure most of this out through trial and error or forums like this.

•The Washington ESD website has some of this info but it's buried in like 20 different pages

One more thing - if you're doing job searches make sure those are logged properly or it can hold up your payments. Washington ESD is pretty strict about the job search requirements now.

•I've been keeping track in WorkSourceWA like they told me to. Hopefully that's sufficient.

•That's exactly right. Keep those records updated and you shouldn't have issues.

For what it's worth, I switched from BofA to a local credit union and my deposits actually come through faster now. Might depend on the specific institution.

•I'll stick with Chase for now but good to know other options might be faster.

Wednesday payments are the norm but watch out for system maintenance. Sometimes Washington ESD does updates that can delay things by a day or two.

Zara Malik
•Do they announce maintenance ahead of time?

•Usually there's a notice on the eServices login page but not always much advance warning.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I'll check my account tomorrow morning and hopefully see the deposit. This community is way more helpful than trying to navigate Washington ESD's website alone.

•Hope it works out! And remember that Claimyr option if you ever need to actually speak with someone at Washington ESD.
