Second ESD pending issue still showing after first one cleared - normal?

So I've been dealing with 2 separate pending issues on my unemployment claim since I filed back in January. This morning I noticed one of the issues is finally gone from my account after waiting almost 5 weeks! But the second issue is still showing as pending. Are these usually resolved at the same time, or is it normal for one issue to clear before the other? I'm really hoping I don't have to wait another month for this second issue to be addressed. My savings are basically gone at this point and I'm getting nervous about bills coming up. Anyone have experience with multiple pending issues and how they get resolved?

They usally do them seperate. Each issue gets looked at by differnt people in ESD so one might get done before the other one. I had 3 issues last year and they all got fixed like 2 weeks apart from eachother. Just keep filing your weekly claims and eventually they'll fix the other issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That makes sense I guess, but it's so stressful! Do you remember if they backdated your payments for all the weeks you were waiting once they fixed each issue?

In my experience, each issue is handled separately by different adjudicators. The system is designed to flag potential eligibility issues, and each one requires its own investigation. Having one resolved is actually a good sign - it means they're actively working on your claim. The second issue might take more time depending on its complexity and what verification they need. You should eventually receive backpay for all eligible weeks once both issues are resolved, assuming you've been filing your weekly claims consistently.

That's reassuring to hear. Yes, I've been filing every week without fail. Just hoping they don't need more information from me for this second issue since they never contacted me about the first one before resolving it.

had same thing happen!! first issue disappeared aftr 3 weeks, second one took ANOTHER 6 weeks!! no reason why, no explanation, just suddenly got a deposit for like $4200 one day. ESD is seriously broken system, they dont even tell u whats going on half the time

Ugh, 6 more weeks sounds terrible :( But at least you eventually got paid! I've been checking my account obsessively every day hoping for progress.

The timing depends on what the issues are. Some pending issues are simple identity verification while others might be investigating separation reasons, availability for work, or past earnings. They each go through different departments. If you want to get more information about your specific issues, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent. I was in a similar situation last month and was going crazy not knowing what was happening. Used their service and got through to an agent in about 20 minutes who explained exactly what was holding up my claim and how long it would likely take. They have a video demo of how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Definitely worth it considering how impossible it is to get through otherwise.

is this a legit service? seems sketchy to pay someone just to get through to unemployment office...

Yes, it's legitimate. They basically navigate the phone system and secure a spot in line with an agent, then call you when it's your turn. I was skeptical too, but after spending weeks trying to get through on my own, it was worth it just to get actual information about my claim status.

I had a similar experience. Each issue is assessed independently. It might be that the first issue was easier to resolve or was assigned to an adjudicator with a lighter caseload. The fact that one issue has been cleared is a positive sign though. Keep checking your online account for any messages requesting information for the remaining issue. One thing to keep in mind is that when they do eventually resolve the second issue, they'll likely review all the weeks that were held pending and release payments for eligible weeks. This often results in a lump sum payment, so be prepared for that possibility.

Thank you for the detailed response. I check my messages daily but haven't seen any requests for information yet. I'm really hoping for that lump sum payment soon - would be such a relief!

My sister works for ESD (not in claims processing though) and she said they're SUPER backed up right now because of some new system they implemented in December that's still having bugs. They've got claims from January that they're just now getting to. So one issue clearing is actually really good progress! She said if you can't wait, calling right when they open at 8am is your best bet to actually get through.

That insider info is helpful! I've tried calling at 8am a few times but still got the "high call volume" message and got disconnected. Maybe I'll keep trying though if that's the best time.

Yeah, she said even at 8am it's tough but better than later in the day. Keep trying and be persistent!

I'm on week 8 of waiting for BOTH of my pending issues to be resolved so consider yourself lucky that one went away already!!! This whole system is designed to make people give up. I've called 47 times in the past month. FORTY SEVEN TIMES. And not once has a human picked up. It's absolute garbage.

I know its frustrating but they do eventually get to everyone. Took almost 10 weeks for my claim last year and I got all the money backpaid. Just keep doing your weekly claims!

10 WEEKS?!?! That's insane! How are people supposed to pay bills while waiting that long?

UPDATE: The second pending issue just disappeared this morning! Looks like they were processed about 3 days apart. No payments showing yet but hopefully they'll come through soon. Thanks everyone for the advice and sharing your experiences!

Great news! The payments typically process within 48 hours after issues are cleared. Make sure your payment method is set up correctly in your account. Glad to hear both issues were resolved relatively close together.
