Holiday reporting mistake on weekly claim - will ESD hold my payment?
So I just filed my weekly claim last night and I'm freaking out because I think I made a mistake. When it asked if there was a holiday during the week, I answered 'no' but then I remembered Memorial Day was this week! I completely forgot since I worked that day at my part-time job (got time and a half though). Will ESD flag my claim or hold my payment because of this error? I reported all my work hours correctly, just messed up on the holiday question. Should I call them to fix it or just leave it alone? I really can't afford any delays on my payment right now.

•Thanks for the reassurance! I was really stressing about this. Do you think I should still try to call them just to be safe?

The holiday question is primarily to verify if you were available for work on a holiday. Since you actually WORKED that day, you've demonstrated availability anyway. Your payment won't be affected by this small mistake.

•This isn't exactly right. The holiday question is also used to calculate your weekly benefit amount if you would normally work that day but didn't because of the holiday. Since OP worked anyway, it shouldn't affect their benefits, but for different reasons.

UPDATE: It's been 2 days since I posted this and my payment is still showing as pending. Normally it would have gone through by now. Now I'm really worried that holiday question mistake messed things up!

I had a similar situation happen last year for July 4th. My payment was delayed for about a week while ESD put my claim in adjudication. They eventually called me to verify my availability on the holiday. Super annoying process!!! They should make these questions clearer!!!

•A WEEK?! Oh no, I can't wait that long. My rent is due next Tuesday. Did you just wait or did you try calling them?

If you're worried, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent quickly. I was in a similar situation with a mistake on my weekly claim and waiting on hold for hours was impossible with my work schedule. Claimyr helped me get through in about 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The ESD agent was able to correct my claim info right away and my payment processed normally.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check out that service. I tried calling ESD directly this morning but gave up after being on hold for 45 minutes.

Just to be clear, holiday reporting is mainly impactful if: 1) You normally would have worked that day but didn't because of the holiday, AND 2) You received holiday pay from your employer. If you worked your normal hours and reported those hours correctly, the holiday question should have minimal impact. However, since your payment is pending, it's worth contacting ESD to clarify the situation. Small errors sometimes trigger automated reviews.

FINAL UPDATE: I used Claimyr to get through to ESD this morning and explained the situation. The agent said since I reported my work hours correctly (including the holiday), the system just needed manual verification. She fixed it right on the call! Payment is being processed now. Thanks everyone for the help!

•Glad it worked out! For future reference, always try to be extra careful with holiday weeks. The ESD system tends to flag those for additional verification even with small discrepancies.
